A 42-year-old woman was discovered dead inside a vehicle at a supermarket car park in Slough on Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred in the parking area of the Iceland store located on Montrose Avenue.

Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after the incident at midday yesterday.

Police and paramedics received reports expressing concern for the welfare of a woman in the car park before arriving at the supermarket.

Thames Valley Police has since confirmed it is not treating the death as suspicious.

However, officers conducted a thorough investigation at the location.

The force stated they are now compiling documentation for the coroner following what they described as an unexplained but non-suspicious death in the Berkshire town.

Emergency services received the call at approximately 2.30pm on Saturday, with crews dispatched to attend to concerns about a woman’s welfare at the retail location.

Upon arrival, responders found the woman inside a car in the car park, where she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The circumstances prompted officers to establish a forensic presence, with a blue-and-white tent erected in the parking area while investigators examined the location.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman provided a statement regarding the incident.

“We are preparing a file for the coroner after an unexplained but non-suspicious death in Slough yesterday,” the spokesman said.

The spokesman added: “A 42-year-old woman was sadly found dead in a car in a car park in Montrose Avenue at around 2.30pm.”

The force also confirmed that the woman’s next of kin have been informed of her death and are receiving support from officers during this difficult period.

Investigators worked methodically at the scene throughout Saturday afternoon, with the forensic tent remaining in place as they gathered evidence and documented the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

Despite the non-suspicious classification, standard procedures required a comprehensive examination of the area before the coroner’s file could be prepared.

Local residents and shoppers who witnessed the police activity at the Iceland car park expressed their distress at the incident.

Several eyewitnesses described the scene as “shocking” and “deeply concerning”.

The busy retail location would typically see significant footfall on a Saturday afternoon, meaning numerous members of the public were present when emergency services arrived.

The Thames Valley Police spokesman also stated: “Her next of kin are aware and we have offered them our support at this difficult time.”

The force’s confirmation that the death is not being treated as suspicious will provide some reassurance to the local community.

However, questions remain about the circumstances that led to the woman’s death in such a public setting.

The coroner will now examine the case to determine the cause of death.

Thames Valley Police will continue to assist with enquiries.
