Drivers are being warned of lengthy delays on the M3 this morning as a result of a police presence on the motorway.

The M3 in Surrey remains closed eastbound between J4 (near Farnborough) and J3 (near Bracknell) due to a “police-led incident”.

National Highways Traffic Officers are on the scene to deal with the flow of vehicles as the incident unfolds.

Surrey Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service are in attendance on the M3 this morning.

National Highways added: “Due to the nature of the incident, the road is expected to remain closed throughout the morning.”

Traffic cameras from the M3 show traffic cones across the eastbound carriageway with a police car blocking access to the route.

A spokesperson for Surrey Police told GB News: “We are currently on scene of a serious collision on the M3 between J4-J3 Northbound.

“An investigation is ongoing at this time, and a driver is assisting police with enquiries. No arrests have been made at this time.”

“The road is currently closed between the two junctions and is likely to remain closed until this afternoon.

“Please avoid the area and find alternative routes where possible, and we will provide updates in due course.”

Data from National Highways suggests that traffic on the M3 eastbound will not return to normal levels until this afternoon.

It currently forecasts that the event is expected to clear between 12.15pm and 12.30pm, although this could be amended.

GB News has contacted the South East Coast Ambulance Service for a comment.

Following the police-led incident between J4 and J3, slow-moving traffic can be seen towards J4a between Farnborough Airport and Blackbushe Airport.

National Highways has also installed a diversion route for motorists near the incident on the M3.
