Birmingham MP Ayoub Khan sparked laughter and boos in the Commons today after quipping that “rubbish is building up right beneath my nose” and looking directly at Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.

The remark came as he raised concerns over ongoing bin strikes in Birmingham, which have now dragged on for nearly two years.

Mr Khan asked the Prime Minister to intervene and urge Birmingham City Council to reopen talks with Unite the Union.

The moment prompted a noisy reaction from MPs across the chamber.
