A bizarre moment has unfolded during Prince William’s visit to Saudi Arabia as the Prince of Wales scored a penalty with no goalkeeper in the net.

The spot kick was watched by young Saudi female footballers as he toured an ambitious Sports Boulevard.

Taking the penalty, the Prince of Wales stepped up right-footed as he ran towards the ball.

William made solid contact, smashing it down the middle of the goal.

However, as the footage panned to show where the prince had scored, it revealed that the father of three had kicked the ball into an empty net.

Nevertheless, William still got a cheer and applause from those watching the future king score.

During his visit, the Prince of Wales was asked about the Royal Family’s process in dealing with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

A journalist called out to William while he was attending a training session for girls’ football in the country.

The reporter asked the royal: “Sir, to what extent do you think the Royal Family has done enough around the Andrew and Epstein scandal?”

The question was unanswered by the heir to the throne.

It is unclear whether William actually heard the question, given that it was shouted across a considerable distance.

On Monday, the Prince and Princess of Wales issued a joint statement on the Epstein files just hours before Prince William arrived in Saudi Arabia for a three-day visit to the country.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said on behalf of Catherine and William: “The Prince and Princess of Wales have been deeply concerned by the continued revelations.

“Their thoughts remain focused on the victims.”

Andrew and his former wife, Sarah Ferguson, have both appeared in the documents linked to Jeffrey Epstein.

The former Duke and Duchess of York have always denied any wrongdoing.

Yesterday, the Prince of Wales presented Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman with a distinctive diplomatic gift.

The royal gifted an England football shirt bearing Harry Kane’s signature and worn by the Three Lions captain during the national team’s friendly match against Senegal on June 10, 2025.

The Prince of Wales spent Monday evening in wide-ranging discussions with the Crown Prince, covering numerous aspects of the bilateral relationship between Britain and Saudi Arabia.

Both London and Riyadh harbour hopes that this meeting between the two men, who have previously encountered one another, will foster a connection that could shape Anglo-Saudi relations for generations.
