The National Lottery has issued an urgent appeal for one lucky individual to claim their winning EuroMillions ticket.

The ticket was bought in Birmingham for the August 15 draw last year – but time is quickly running out for the winner to claim the life-changing prize.

Just two weeks remain for the holder of the ticket, with the winning code VLPL 28287, to notify The National Lottery.

They only have until February 11 to come forward.

The National Lottery is urging players to check and double-check their tickets for the chance to claim the seven-figure sum.

The unclaimed ticket is one of six big prizes outstanding from The National Lottery across Lotto and EuroMillions, with over £13million in prizes yet to be snapped up.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at Allwyn, the operator of The National Lottery, said: “Were you in or around Birmingham in the week leading up to the 15 August draw?

“Maybe it isn’t even a local winner – did you visit the area for the day and play Lotto – did you return home and stash it somewhere safe?

“Have a think back to what you were doing on that date, as I want nothing more than to unite the winner with their prize money.

“Tell your friends, check your pockets, check your tickets, as it could be you!”

If no one comes forward with the winning tickets before the deadline, then the prize money, plus all the interest it has generated, will go to help National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.

With all National Lottery draws, players have 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their prize if they have the winning ticket.

Anyone who has any queries or who believes they have the winning ticket for any of the National Lottery draws within the 180-day deadline should call the National Lottery Line on 0333 234 5050.

Just last week, the National Lottery found one of the mysterious ticket winners who had not yet claimed their prize.

The winner, whose identity remains undisclosed, stepped forward to receive their £1million sum following the public appeal.

Mr Carter said he was “delighted” that the missing winner, confirmed to be from the West Sussex area, had finally been located.

Local radio station V2 Radio reported that the winning ticket originated from the Mid Sussex District specifically.

Each week, players help generate around £32million for National Lottery-funded projects.

With over £52billion raised for Good Causes since launch, it funds hundreds of projects in every postcode area across the UK.
