Fire crews have scrambled as a massive blaze has erupted in Glasgow city centre.
Smoke has been spotted billowing near the House of Gods hotel in the Scottish city.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We received a report by 999 call around 6.18pm.
“There are 11 appliances in attendance. The incident is ongoing.”
Glassford Street in Glasgow has been shut due to the fire.
In a statement, Glasgow City Council urged road users to avoid the area while fire crews carry out vital emergency work.
A statement from Glasgow City Council read: “Due to a building fire, Glassford Street has been closed to all traffic between Ingram Street and Trongate. Road users are advised to avoid this area.”
A local soup kitchen was evacuated as a “precaution”.
Homeless Project Scotland, whose home is on the street affected by the fire, said on social media that everyone is safe.
A spokesperson said on X: “For safety reasons, the soup kitchen is now CLOSED until further notice while the situation is assessed.
“We will share updates as soon as we have confirmation on reopening or alternative arrangements.
“Thank you to everyone for your understanding, patience and support.”

ScotRail confirmed on social media that its services are still calling at two stations local to the fire.
Users asked the company whether trains passing through Argyle Street or High Street stations would be impacted.
Videos taken at the scene shows the inferno taking hold of what looks to be a rooftop.
Huge plumes of thick, black smoke surge from the area while orange flames crash against the building.
Sirens and chatter from concerned pedestrians can be heard in a video posted from the scene.
