Prince Louis was seen swiftly grabbing a chocolate gift from Prince William after a member of the public told the Prince of Wales the present was “for Louis” during the Royal Family’s Christmas Day walk at Sandringham.

Footage and photographs taken outside St Mary Magdalene Church on the Sandringham estate show Prince William briefly holding a red-wrapped chocolate Lindt Lindor maxi ball as the family greeted crowds following the traditional Christmas morning service.

As the Prince of Wales held the item, a royal fan could be heard indicating that the present was intended specifically for his youngest son.

The moment prompted an immediate reaction from Prince Louis, who stepped forward and pulled the chocolate gift towards himself, clutching it with both hands as Prince William released it.

The seven-year-old was then seen holding the chocolate securely as the family continued moving along the crowd line.

The interaction took place shortly after King Charles and Queen Camilla led senior members of the Royal Family to the Christmas Day service in Norfolk.

Prince William and Princess Kate attended with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as part of the long-standing Sandringham tradition.

The walk to and from the church remains one of the most informal royal appearances of the year, with members of the public invited to line the route and hand cards, flowers and small gifts to the family.

Children in particular are often given seasonal treats, with chocolates a common offering.

In the same sequence of images, Prince George was also seen carrying a large boxed selection of chocolates, while Princess Charlotte held a bouquet of red flowers she had been handed by a well-wisher.

Prince Louis, meanwhile, appeared determined to keep hold of his gift as the family moved away from the church.

The brief exchange with Prince William was captured on video and quickly circulated on social media, with royal watchers commenting on Louis’s “adorable” reaction after hearing the gift was meant for him.

One fan described the moment as the young prince “quickly grabbing his chocolate present from his Papa”.

Despite the light-hearted nature of the interaction, the family maintained a steady pace as they continued greeting members of the public.

The post-service walk is carefully managed to ensure the family can acknowledge crowds while keeping the group moving back towards Sandringham House.

Prince Louis has become a popular figure at public events involving the Waleses, particularly during major occasions such as Trooping the Colour and Christmas Day at Sandringham.

The wider Christmas Day appearance again attracted large crowds, many of whom arrived early in the morning to secure a place along the route.

After greeting well-wishers, the Royal Family returned to Sandringham House, where Christmas Day is traditionally spent privately with lunch and family time.

The exchange between Prince William and Prince Louis offered a brief, candid moment within an otherwise formal royal tradition, highlighting the spontaneous interactions that continue to emerge during the Sandringham Christmas walk.
