Two men have been arrested following a fatal knife attack during the early hours of Christmas morning.

West Midlands Police were summoned to Burcot Avenue, Wolverhampton, shortly after 3.30am on Thursday.

Officers discovered a 30-year-old victim with stab wounds.

Despite attempts by emergency medical staff to save him, the man was declared dead at the scene.

Two suspects, one aged 35 and another aged 58, have been taken into custody on suspicion of murder.

A cordon has been established at the site whilst detectives continue their work.

Investigators are pursuing multiple lines of inquiry as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing.

Detective Chief Superintendent Ed Foster confirmed the force is conducting a thorough examination of the scene.

“We are in the early stages of our investigation and carrying out quick-time enquiries including forensic examination, reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses,” he said.

“We ask anyone who may have any information about what happened to contact us.

Forensic specialists are gathering evidence at the location whilst detectives analyse video surveillance from the surrounding area.

Authorities are urging members of the public with knowledge of the incident to come forward.

Those with relevant details can reach the force by dialling 101 or through the Live Chat function available on the West Midlands Police website, referencing incident number 481 of 25 December.

Individuals who wish to provide information whilst remaining anonymous can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
