Prince Harry sustained an injury to his hand during Thursday’s St. Regis World Snow Polo Championship in Aspen, Colorado, according to sources.

The Duke of Sussex was accidentally struck when one of renowned polo player Nacho Figueras’s sons swung his mallet during the match.

A witness described the incident to Page Six, explaining that the prince’s hand was “clipped” by the mallet.

“They paused for a second and he shook it off,” the source said.

Despite the painful incident, the duke pressed on and completed the remainder of the match.

His resilience was not enough to secure victory, however, as his team ultimately suffered defeat in the contest.

The announcer referred to him as Harry Wales throughout the game.

Sources revealed that the royal’s appearance at the tournament came as a complete surprise to those in attendance.

“No one knew he was coming,” one source explained.

Harry had also taken part in Wednesday’s competition and was spotted skiing with Figueras prior to the match.

The Duchess of Sussex did not accompany her husband on the Colorado trip.

However, Meghan Markle did share a picture of Prince Harry from the event on her social media.

Harry maintains a close friendship with Mr Figueras, who competed alongside his sons Artemo and Hilario in the championship.

The duke is no stranger to the sport, having participated in numerous charity polo matches over the years.

He has also ventured into documenting the sport, serving as producer on the Netflix docuseries “Polo”.

Following Wednesday’s match, Mr Figueras and his wife Delfina attended the annual Snow Polo Disco, though the royal did not join them.
