Angry Ginge won Series 25 of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

Staff at the football club where content creator and newly crowned King of the Jungle Angry Ginge used to play and now coaches have applauded him for putting his hometown of Eccles “on the map”.

Real name Morgan Burtwistle, he recently won Series 25 of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

Angry Ginge, born in the Winton area, coaches Winton Wanderers U18s team, who he affectionately renamed Winton Yanited – a nod to his trademark online catchphrase.

Chairman of Winton Wanderers FC Lee Egan said: “He’s been an inspiration for a lot of young kids. We’re all Team Ginge”. Vice-chair Sarah Wolff said Ginge had put “Eccles on the map” and he was an “icon” to local children.

YouTuber and chairman of Daisy Hill FC Aaron Hunt says he knew Ginge would win the reality series

Ginge’s U18s squad play their weekend matches at Daisy Hill FC, based in Westhoughton, Bolton.

After online success, the Twitch streamer then sponsored the club’s stadium in July, now called The Ginge Power Stadium.

Aaron Hunt, fellow YouTuber and chairman of Daisy Hill FC said the key to Ginge’s success in the jungle had been his personality.

“He’s just been himself, the lad that you’ve seen in there is the lad we see in here.

“I knew he was going to win it, my mum loves him even more now.”

The clubhouse at Daisy Hill FC hosted a watch-along for the I’m a Celebrity final.

“It was like when you’re in the pub, watching the football and England score and all the beers are flying about,” Mr Hunt said, recalling the moment Ginge was crowned King of the Jungle.

Chairman of Winton Wanderers Lee Egan remembers Ginge’s playing days

Winton chairman Mr Egan continued: “The kids idolise him. Whenever he’s been here, there’s been crowds but he’s always got time for them.

“Any photos, he’ll take them. Anything they want signed, he’ll get them signed.”

Vice-chair Ms Wolff said: “Eccles isn’t a well known part of Salford but every kid in the area knows who Ginge is, every kid probably looks up to him – he doesn’t realise how much of an icon he is.”

Freddy Done-Orrell has been best friends with Ginge for seven years – after playing for the same football team in Monton as children.

The friends still go and watch their beloved Manchester United home and away.

“He’s a brilliant friend, someone who I can hold very close to my heart”.

After the success of the jungle, Mr Done-Orrell has tipped his friend for even more reality TV success.

“Celebrity Traitors we need him on that, that’s the next one – that’s what I hope.

“If he goes on that, it’d be mint”.
