Morrisons has unveiled a festive rewards programme that promises £20 in loyalty points to customers who meet specific shopping targets during the pre-Christmas period.

The “Merry More Points” initiative launched today, offering More Card holders substantial rewards for maintaining regular shopping habits through the busy festive season.

The supermarket chain’s discount scheme represents a significant boost to its existing loyalty programme, with participating customers able to accumulate the bonus points by reaching spending thresholds across multiple weeks.

This initiative applies to both digital app users and traditional card holders, ensuring widespread accessibility for the retailer’s millions of loyalty programme members.

To qualify for the reward, shoppers must reach a minimum spend of fifty pounds during four separate weeks within a five-week period ending on December 14.

The qualifying purchases can comprise either single large shops or multiple smaller transactions that collectively meet the weekly threshold.

Digital app users need to activate the promotion within the application or scan their receipt’s activation code to register their purchases.

Physical card holders must have scanned their activation voucher by November 9 to participate in the programme.

The scheme operates alongside the standard rewards structure, where shoppers accumulate five points per purchased item.

Beyond the points bonus, Morrisons will introduce weekly festive surprises throughout December for participating loyalty members.

These special rewards will be available to customers who shop at the retailer each week during the month.

The December surprises encompass various benefits including additional loyalty points, complimentary seasonal treats, money-saving vouchers and competitions to win complete Christmas shopping trips.

Each week will feature different rewards, adding an element of anticipation to routine grocery purchases.

Customers can also convert their accumulated points into five-pound vouchers once they reach 5,000 points, redeemable both in-store and online.

Additionally, the programme offers a charitable option, allowing members to donate their points to Marie Curie.

Gareth Lloyd, the director of Loyalty at Morrisons, urged shoppers to take advantage of this scheme over the festive period.

He shared: “We know Christmas can be an expensive time for many families, so we wanted to give our loyal customers a little extra help in the run-up to the big day.

“By making it easier to earn More Points, our Merry More Points scheme rewards customers simply for doing their regular shop.

“Whether they’re topping up the fridge, buying festive treats, or picking up last-minute gifts, every shop at Morrisons brings them closer to a well-earned Christmas bonus.”

Morrisons’ latest loyalty scheme offering joins the ranks of other supermarket initiatives, such as Tesco’s Clubcard programme.
