British shoppers who purchased a German-manufactured facial serum through QVC face potential injury from glass contamination, a new Government warning has revealed.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has issued an urgent recall for M.Asam VITAMIN C Glow Ampullen after finding liquid glass material in batch 078CF0110.
The contamination poses a direct threat to users’ safety, with the potential for “minor cuts and injuries” when the serum is applied to skin.
While officials have confirmed that the risk level is low, the product does not meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 and is therefore unsuitable for use.
QVC shoppers should check their bedrooms and bathroom cabinets for affected products to ensure their safety.
These are packaged in small glass ampoules and carry the barcode 4049639455177.
Customers have been advised to “stop using the product immediately” and seek redress through their original point of purchase.
If the product was a gift, they must alert the recipient straight away.
QVC, the television shopping channel that distributed the serum to British households, bears responsibility for managing returns and refunds.

The QVC alert comes just weeks after Boots urgently recalled makeup containing dangerous levels of a “cancer-causing” chemical.
Following notices from EU authorities, shoppers in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland were warned that the Sosu Peach Dreams Eyeshadow Palette contains an “excessive concentration” of arsenic, a known carcinogen.
GOV.UK noted that short-term exposure to arsenic is “likely to be associated at most with only a very small increase in the risk of cancer”.
However, certain populations, such as pregnant women and young children, face heightened vulnerability to arsenic’s harmful effects.
Contact with arsenic compounds can also result in “corrosive” burns to skin or eyes.
Affected customers were told to follow the typical recall process: stop using the product immediately and return it to stores for a full refund.
