Diane Ladd, the Oscar-nominated Hollywood icon, has died aged 89, according to a statement issued by her star daughter.

The actress, who is the mother of actress Laura Dern, was best known for her role as Flo in the 1974 cult classic romantic comedy Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.

Announcing her mother’s death, Laura Dern issued the statement: “My amazing hero and my profound gift of a mother, Diane Ladd, passed with me beside her this morning, at her home in Ojai, Ca.

“She was the greatest daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created.

“We were blessed to have her.

“She is flying with her angels now,” Laura concluded.
