A National Lottery winner has confirmed he plans to make a major change to his life plans after scooping a huge prize.

The unnamed dad from Cumbria won an incredible £10,000 a month for one year in the National Lottery’s Set for Life draw.

The dad won the prize on Monday, June 30, with the numbers 3, 8, 14, 17 and 25.

He just missed out on the jackpot, not getting the life ball, which would have secured him £10,000 every month for 30 winners.

The dad plans to use his winnings to help his children and his grandchildren.

He said: “The win will allow me to fast-forward my plans and allow me to enjoy life with my family.”

The Carlisle local, who played the ticket online, has become one of over nine million players who win each week on The National Lottery’s variety of games.

One other winner also won the same prize as the dad on the night, taking home £120,000 over the course of the year.

Interactive winners can share their names or remain anonymous, like the dad.

Senior winners’ advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, Andy Carter, congratulated the winner.

He said: “What wonderful news for our mystery dad and his family.

“We are delighted that the money will help them spend valuable time together and speed up their plans.”

Just a couple of weeks before, in a Set for Life draw on June 19, another dad scooped the £120,000 jackpot.

The winner was initially confused after checking his account and noticing his balance remained unchanged despite the huge win.

“I was a little confused when my account balance hadn’t changed, then I read my messages and couldn’t believe I had won £10k every month for a year on a Lucky Dip ticket,” he said, according to the Northern Echo.

“When I told my wife, she was over the moon!”

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at Allwyn, the National Lottery’s operator, passed on a “huge congratulations” to the lucky player.

“Wow, what incredible news for this man from County Durham who has won a fantastic prize on The National Lottery.” he said.

The National Lottery’s Set for Life game costs £1.50 to play.

Draws happen every Monday and Thursday, and games can be played up to four weeks in advance.
