Lorraine Kelly has broken her silence on ITV’s brutal cuts, which will see her self-titled morning show slashed to just 30 minutes.

The 65-year-old ITV presenter has insisted that despite the “heartbreaking” changes, she won’t be leaving the show in the near future.

The shake-up will also mean her programme will only run for 30 weeks of the year, with Good Morning Britain running for a longer stretch of time for the remaining 22 weeks.

Instead of its usual 9am start, the show will be pushed back by 30 minutes but will continue to end at 10am.

The plans were announced earlier this year, prompting speculation that Ms Kelly would step away from the show.

However, as she broke her five-month silence on the bombshell changes, the Scottish presenter has insisted she won’t bid farewell to the show “until people get fed up”.

She admitted she’d had her suspicions that a shake-up was coming, but added Lorraine had been “trying really hard” to make the most of its resources.

She also confessed she was “angry” upon learning the news, but clarified her feelings were associated with her team, many of whom would have their jobs slashed.

It is understood that of the approximate 450 employees on the team, up to 220 jobs are at risk.

“It’s been difficult with the cuts, it’s been hard,” she told The Mirror. “I’m a lot happier about it now, but it was honestly and genuinely all about the team. I wasn’t annoyed or angry about this for me… It was about the team.”

She also emphasised she has no plans to retire despite the disappointing updates.

Ms Kelly referred to Loose Women panelists such as Janet Street Porter and Gloria Hunniford, citing them as “astonishing women who are just getting into their stride in their 70s and 80s,” and vowing to follow in their footsteps.

When asked if she’d be making an exit soon, he replied: “Absolutely not. I am going to be toddling off that show in my Zimmer frame, and even then, I’ll be coming in.

“I don’t see me going anywhere until people get fed up, you know? Until people say, ‘I’ve had enough of that one.’”

In upcoming switch-ups, ITV shows Lorraine, This Morning, and Loose Women will be relocating in January to the basement studio of The H Club Studio in London.

Managing Director at ITV Studios Daytime Emma Gormley stated: “As we work towards more cutting edge and efficient ways to produce Daytime shows in 2026.

“This move to The H Club studio offers state of the art technology that we can use across our programmes to create shows that are distinctive – with a look and feel that are familiar to and loved by our viewers.

“In a time of transformation for the entire industry, I want to thank all our Daytime teams for their dedication and skill in producing high-quality, compelling live shows every day throughout this period.”
