Sunday’s anniversary prompted Mr May to share his memories once more, posting a photograph from his knighthood ceremony at Buckingham Palace, where Mr Webb can be seen alongside him.

The image captures Mr Webb in his protective role, which Mr May noted was characteristic of their relationship.

In his social media post, the Queen rocker wrote: “In my thoughts today – the unforgettable Phil Webb – seen here with me, proudly looking after me, as he always did, at my knighthood ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

“He was suddenly taken from this world 2 years ago, way, way too soon.” (sic)

The musician continued his tribute by describing Mr Webb’s character: “He was the kindest man I ever met, to every man woman, and child, no matter what their colour or creed, and a passionate champion of animals, all of which makes him, to me, one of the greats. We all miss ya Phil, too much. RIP. Bri.” (sic)

The heartfelt message resonated deeply with Mr May’s followers, who responded with their own memories and condolences.

Supporters shared touching recollections of their personal interactions with Mr Webb. One admirer recalled meeting him briefly and being struck by his warm, humorous nature.

Another follower noted Mr Webb’s dedication to caring for Mr May and his extended circle, writing that he “treated every one of us as tho we were old friends.”

“It was a great loss for you and everyone who knew him. I only met him once but in those few minutes he made me laugh and I’m very glad I had the opportunity to feel his friendly warmth,” a second wrote.

Another shared: “Dear Phil How can it possibly be two years already. He took such great pride in taking care of you and your family and your huge circle of acquired fans. Treated every one of us as tho we were old friends Xx.”

Another added: “I remember when this happened, I felt for you being on tour. You’re very brave for continuing.”
