Prince Harry has been left hurt and upset by recent criticism of his wife following Meghan Markle’s trip to Paris.

The criticism centred on footage from Meghan’s fashion week visit that inadvertently showed her vehicle near the location of Princess Diana’s fatal crash.

Sources close to the Duke of Sussex disclosed that Harry feels his mother’s tragic death was being used to criticise his wife.

A friend of the duke told the Mail: “Harry was left hurt and upset. Diana’s death was used as a stick to beat his wife with.

“He was left feeling hurt, but the depressing thing is he wasn’t even that surprised. He was more despondent than shocked.”

Those close to Meghan Markle were left furious over speculation that her Instagram post from Paris was intended to reference the late Diana, Princess of Wales, GB News understands.

Meghan’s camp was angered by the suggestion that there was any hidden meaning or symbolism behind the video.

The reaction has been described as unfair and unwarranted, with Meghan’s team insisting the post was simply a snapshot of a Parisian evening shared during her return to Europe.

The footage was shared during the Duchess of Sussex’s two-day promotional visit to Paris Fashion Week, where she attended the Balenciaga show supporting designer Pierpaolo Piccioli.

The video depicted Meghan relaxing in a luxury vehicle whilst travelling near the Pont d’Alma tunnel, where Diana died in 1997.

Social media users debated whether the location choice was intentional.

The backlash overshadowed what was meant to be a successful return to European public engagements for the 44-year-old Duchess of Sussex.

Sources indicate Meghan had no knowledge of the vehicle’s proximity to the crash site.

They dismissed such interpretations as baseless and unjust.

Associates of the couple expressed particular frustration that the incident occurred during Meghan’s first European trip in two years. “[Meghan] did not even pass close to the tunnel,” the source emphasised.
