Prince William revealed his whole family was present when his late dog, Lupo, died during the Covid lockdown.

The Prince of Wales appeared on an episode of The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy, where he was accompanied by his current family dog, Orla.

Mr Levy and Orla bonded very quickly, with the 78-year-old offering the dog a treat from his pocket.

Prince William quipped: “This is going down well, look, you’re getting the look which is like, ‘Please feed me’.”

The Canadian actor replied: “And that’ll do it. Oh my goodness…”

Prince William then opened up about Lupo, the Prince and Princess of Wales’s late dog, who died in 2020.

He said: “So [Orla’s] actually the niece of our other dog, Lupo, who sadly we lost in lockdown.”

The Schitts Creek star responded: “Were you there? When it happened?”

The future King clarified: “Yeah we were all there sadly, it was very sad.”

On November 22, 2020, Princess Kate and Prince William took to Instagram to announce Lupo’s death with a moving tribute.

They wrote: “Very sadly last weekend our dear dog, Lupo, passed away.

“He has been at the heart of our family for the past nine years and we will miss him so much. – W & C”.

PRINCESS OF WALES

The “W&C” sign-off indicated it was written by the Prince and Princess of Wales themselves, and not their social media team.

Lupo was gifted as a wedding present to Prince William and Kate in 2011 from James Middleton, the Princess of Wales’s younger brother.

Mr Middleton is renowned for rearing dogs, currently owning six himself.

These include four Cocker Spaniels named Zulu, Inka, Luna, and Nala, and two Golden Retrievers named Mabel and Isla.

Lupo was present in Prince George’s first ever official photograph in 2013, taken at Carole and Michael Middleton’s family home.

He also attended several charity polo matches and horse trials as a beloved member of the Wales family.

Lupo’s niece, Orla, joined Kate and William and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, in January 2021.

Her name was revealed the following year when Charlotte turned seven, and the Waleses released a photograph to celebrate the occasion.

Charlotte could be seen posing with Orla in Norfolk near their summer home, Anmer Hall.

The photograph was taken by Princess Kate, who is a self-described “amateur photographer”.

Earlier this year, Kensington Palace released an official photograph of Prince William to mark his 43rd birthday, surrounded by a litter of puppies.

It was confirmed that Orla had welcomed four arrivals with the following Instagram caption: “Happy birthday! Love C, G, C, L, Orla and the puppies!”
