Jeremy Clarkson has dismantled Carol Vorderman’s argument that Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s dwindling popularity in the polls is merely down to “bad PR” by the Labour Party.

Last month, it was revealed that the current PM was the least popular on record according to the polls, something Ms Vorderman discussed at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool last week.

In his latest newspaper column, Mr Clarkson began his ridicule of Ms Vorderman by pointing out that during the election campaign, she was “extremely keen” that the public voted for Labour.

“She reckoned that with a Labour government running things, the nation would be filled with smiles and sunshine,” he mocked.

The Clarkson’s Farm star then made clear that he didn’t agree with the former Countdown maths whizz, describing every Labour leader to have taken office during his lifetime as “useless”.

“There was a time when [Tony] Blair looked like he might be okay, but then he set off to Iraq to look for a bomb that wasn’t there, and it emerged he was useless too,” he remarked.

Mr Clarkson continued by lumping Mr Starmer in with the same “useless” crowd, before he mentioned how Ms Vorderman had claimed during the Labour Party Conference that the PM’s dwindling popularity was down to “bad PR”.

“What?!?” a gobsmacked Mr Clarkson wrote. “You think that his attack and then retreat on pensioners was a public relations cock-up?

“And that his stupid Chagos deal would have been more palatable if only someone had sold the story more effectively.

“And what about all the people he’s had to fire? And how he’s completely lost control of his dimwit backbenchers.”

Mr Clarkson did mention in his column for The Sun that Ms Vorderman had conceded that Labour would need a new leader come the next General Election.

However, in the eyes of the former Top Gear host, it “won’t make any difference” when it comes to the public’s opinion.

“It’s the whole Labour philosophy that’s wrong,” Mr Clarkson claimed. “And Andy Burnham isn’t going to fix that. So it would just be, ‘Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss’.”

Ms Vorderman had previously angered viewers of the People’s Channel with her assessment earlier this week. In conversation with the aforementioned Ms Cadwalladr, she began: “You know, we’re looking ahead to the next election…

“Again, boo me, please,” she said to the crowd of Labour voters. “Keir Starmer — this is my prediction — Keir Starmer will never be voted in as Prime Minister again.

“There’ll either have to be a change of leader if you want another Labour government, or he’ll lose. I just cannot see a situation where he would be -“

When Ms Cadwalladr then cut in to ask what Ms Vorderman’s message to the Labour government would be to turn the tide, she replied: “Get your PR better, for a start. I mean, it’s just appalling.”

Putting the blame on the media rather than Mr Starmer or Labour, she spouted: “And I do understand that they’re fighting a tide of right-wing newspapers, I get that, I really do understand that. And a channel like GB News, which… where’s Ofcom, frankly?

“I’ve worked in media for so many years, and the Ofcom regulations are really bl**dy strict. But apparently they’re out of the window now.

“I don’t even know who the chair of Ofcom is, and they need… we need to have some system that is back in place.”
