Rasseika Duncan, 40, was found guilty of rape in June at Manchester Crown Court

A man who convinced a vulnerable 15-year-old girl to go back to his house, before raping her, has been jailed for 11 years.

Rasseika Duncan, 40, met the victim in Hyde town centre on the evening of 1 October 2022, before persuading her back to his home in Stalybridge.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said Duncan “exploited a vulnerable young girl and took advantage of her in what was a terrifying situation”.

He was found guilty of rape and causing a child to engage in sexual activity at an earlier hearing at Manchester Crown Court.

Duncan was in Hyde when he stopped the victim, who was walking through the area, at about 20:00 BST.

After a brief conversation, Duncan convinced the girl to go back to his home, stopping to buy a quantity of cannabis on the way.

When he arrived home, he locked the door of the room and raped her.

‘Bravery and courage’

A friend of the girl raised concerns after seeing her with Duncan.

The victim’s phone was traced, and Duncan was arrested at his home later that evening.

Det Sgt Michelle Davies, from GMP, said: “I would like to thank the victim in this case for the immense bravery and courage she has shown throughout both the investigation and the trial.

“I hope today’s sentencing can provide some comfort to her, as she continues to rebuild her life following this awful ordeal.”

Duncan also received an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and a restraining order.
