Hannah Einbinder secured her inaugural Emmy trophy at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday evening, claiming Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of Ava Daniels in HBO Max’s Hacks.
The 30-year-old performer concluded her acceptance remarks with politically charged statements that prompted broadcast censorship as the editing suite rushed to bleep out her expletives.
She declared :”Go Birds, f*** ICE and free Palestine,” with the swear word being muted during the CBS transmission.
The controversial moment marked the ceremony’s first explicitly political statement of the evening. Einbinder’s comments combined support for the Philadelphia Eagles American football team with criticism of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and advocacy for Palestinian causes.

Inevitably, social media was split following the outburst. Several pro-Palestine X accounts applauded Ms Einbender for her remarks, while opponents claimed it “ruined the show” for them.
“Yasss Hannah Einbeinder (finally) won an #Emmys so deserving & #Hacks family hug is everything,” one X user typed in support while a second weighed in: “She said free Palestine, love her!!”
However, another argued: “She had to attack Israel in her acceptance speech. Actresses have no business giving their political opinions on award shows. @CBS @paramountplus.”
And a second agreed: “Millionaire celebs love shouting empty slogans on stage like it’s open mic night. ‘Free Palestine’ is not a punchline. Hannah, you had 30 seconds to inspire millions – you could have called for peace… and shown empathy for all victims.

“Instead, you went for applause lines and left Israelis and Palestinians exactly where they were: bleeding. But you sure look chic in this expensive dress!” (sic)
The victory represented Ms Einbinder’s first Emmy triumph following four consecutive nominations for her work on all seasons of Hacks.
Her win came as an upset, with veteran performer Catherine O’Hara from The Studio widely considered the frontrunner for the award.
The competitive category featured seven nominees, including O’Hara and Kathryn Hahn representing The Studio, Jessica Williams from Shrinking, defending champion Liza Colón-Zayas from The Bear, plus Janelle James and Sheryl Lee Ralph from Abbott Elementary.

Ms Einbinder’s co-star Jean Smart also claimed victory in the Lead Actress category, marking her fourth Emmy for playing legendary comedian Deborah Vance in the HBO Max series.
Ms Einbender’s political rant came just days after host Nate Bargatze promised the ceremony would be avoiding political jokes.

Political tensions have been particularly high in the United States following the shooting of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
“Not at all,” the comedian told Entertainment Weekly when asked how political this year’s Emmy Awards was going to be.
He added to the publication: “I know there’s heartbreaking stuff that’s been happening right now, but I want this night to be an escape and I think that’s why I was brought on.
“I think a lot of people are watching, I know they watch my stand-up for that reason, so I just don’t wanna break that trust that I have in them, and just make the night be a fun night.”
