Coleen Nolan has opened up for the first time about her son Shane’s drugs battle, admitting her oldest child “f***ed up” his marriage through drug use.

Shane split from his ex-wife, Miss Great Britain star Maddie Wahdan in 2023, a year after the former couple tied the knot.

Loose Women star Nolan shares the 36-year-old singer with ex-husband Shane Richie, and spoke publicly for the first time on her YouTube channel about his recent battle with addiction.

Addressing the moment Shane caused her to reach her “breaking point,” she told her son: “I remember when the time came when you passed out and split your head open early in the morning.

Coleen Nolan shared the guilt she felt over son Shane’s addiction

“And I absolutely… that was my breaking point. Because I thought, ‘if this doesn’t wake him up, he’s going to…’ I kept saying, ‘he’s going to die.'”

“To be fair I was in rehab the following week,” Shane pointed out.

Nolan also delved into the guilt she felt, admitting: “But from a mother’s point of view, you know, I just felt it was something I’d done wrong.

“I really blamed me for all of it. People kept saying, ‘you have to talk to him, you have to do this,’ and I couldn’t.

Loose Women panelist Coleen Nolan shared how she reached her ‘breaking point’

“I thought, ‘I’m failing on all levels here.’ And so when I cried when you cut your head open, yeah it was really sad.

“Well, it was a wake up call of, ‘Oh my God, the next one could be the call to say he’s overdosed and he’s gone.’

“But also it was almost a relief because you kind of instantly went, ‘I need help.'”

The 60-year-old went on to add: “You were broke, you got into a lot of debt, as everyone does with addiction. Relationships, you f***ed your marriage basically.”

Shane is now in a relationship with Kimberly Sallis, and the pair shared earlier this month they were expecting their first child together.

After explaining his girlfriend had been among those to help him through his drug addiction, Shane told his mother: “I think I’ve had to grow up. I’ve got a girlfriend who has helped me through it massively, we’re starting a family now.”

“It’s only until recently we’ve all just relaxed,” Nolan admitted. “The difference for me now, is you’re just nicer to be around.

“I didn’t dread you coming around, but I kind of did. I don’t know, it was horrible.”

Earlier in July, Nolan revealed she is set to become a grandmother for the fourth time, with her son Shane announcing his partner Kim is expecting their first child together.

The news came just days after the Loose Women presenter shared that her daughter Ciara is also pregnant.

Shane posted an ultrasound scan on Instagram on Tuesday afternoon, writing: “Is there ever a right time to tell people? But we think you should probably know, this family is just getting bigger baby.”

The television personality expressed her joy on social media, stating: “I can’t actually believe this but I wanted to share with you all that I’m going to be a Nanny AGAIN!”
