Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, the husband of Princess Beatrice, may be on a collision course with Prince William with his latest venture.

The 41-year-old interior designer and architect is now understood to be creating inspiring interiors for private jets.

The news may come as a disappointment to the Prince of Wales, who has made conservation and environmentalism a key focus of his royal duties.

Private jets are considered one of the most damaging modes of transport for the planet, as it can be as much as 14 times more polluting per passenger than commercial flights.

They are also 50 times more polluting than trains, according to Airport Technology.

Such was William’s commitment that he and his family had chosen to fly commercially, incognito, whenever they could – as recently as 2019.

Despite William and other members of the Royal Family’s commitments to environmentalism, Edoardo is believed to be steaming ahead.

Royal writer Richard Eden said Edoardo has started “fitting out private jets” as part of various design projects.

The interior designer also explained the attraction of private jets.

“It’s escapism,” he began, as quoted by Eden in the Daily Mail.

He continued: “When you’re in the air there are no people constantly asking you questions or children hanging off you.”

Edorado’s celebration of the luxury and exclusivity of private jets does seem out of step with the broader themes of recent royal communications.

William continues to champion his Earthshot Prize, which awards five people every year for their achievements in environmentalism, and will speak at the UN Climate Change Conference summit Cop30 later this year.

Ahead of the meeting, he urged global leaders to show “courage” with “greater ambition and deeper collaboration” on environmental policy.

King Charles has long been a passionate conservationist and backed calls to reduce carbon emissions.

He has attempted to make the Royal Family’s car fleet as environmentally friendly as possible with new electric vehicles.

Beatrice and Edorado recently returned from a meaningful trip to Scotland

Most recently, the monarch ordered a £160,000 electric Lotus in royal claret livery for use on his country estates.

Previously, Jaguar had the honour of supplying the first EV to the Royal household with an I-Pace model decorated in Loire Blue paintwork.

As part of the travelling audits, Charles has also recently invested in two new more fuel-efficient helicopters as an alternative to the retiring Royal Train.

The news comes as Edoardo and Beatrice recently returned from a trip to Scotland where they marked their 5th wedding anniversary.

It is not know what method of travel, private or otherwise, they used for the getaway.
