The Duchess of Gloucester attended Wimbledon’s men’s singles semi-finals today, representing the Royal Family solo on Day 12 of the tournament.

She was photographed in the Royal Box watching the high-stakes matches unfold.

The 79-year-old duchess was the sole senior royal present at the sporting event, continuing her support for the Championships.

The Duchess of Gloucester’s appearance comes as the tournament reaches its climax with the men’s semi-final clashes taking place today.

Her attendance underscores the enduring connection between the Royal Family and Wimbledon, even when other senior royals are unable to attend.

The royal’s presence at today’s semi-finals follows a notable appearance last week when she warmly greeted Carole Middleton at the Championships.

The duchess welcomed the Princess of Wales’s mother with a supportive embrace as they met in the Royal Box, marking an uncommon public interaction between the pair.

World number one Jannik Sinner has declared he will be “100%” for today’s semi-final against Novak Djokovic, despite suffering an elbow injury earlier this week.

The 23-year-old Italian fell during Monday’s fourth-round match against Grigor Dimitrov and required medical treatment.

“The pain is getting better,” Sinner told BBC Sport. “I played today with some painkillers which helped me to get through.”

The Italian wore protective strapping and a sleeve on his racquet arm during Wednesday’s quarter-final victory over Shelton.

He acknowledged that “returning fast serves is not easy” but reassured fans that “it’s not something crazy serious because if not I would be much more concerned.”

Djokovic has secured his place in tennis history with a record-breaking 14th Wimbledon men’s singles semi-final appearance, surpassing Roger Federer’s previous mark of 13.

The achievement marks his 52nd Grand Slam semi-final overall, extending his all-time record in men’s tennis.

Despite his impressive statistics, the Serbian acknowledges the formidable challenge awaiting him.

“I am just trying to focus on my recovery right now and getting my body in shape for very physical battle,” Djokovic said.

The seven-time Wimbledon champion recognises Sinner’s current form, having lost their last four encounters, including at the French Open semi-finals just five weeks ago.

“Hopefully I can deliver the level and be able to stay with him because it’s going to take the best of me at the moment to beat Jannik,” he admitted.
