Eight people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an 18-year-old man was shot getting out a taxi.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said a suspect riding an electric bike opened fire on the teenager in Shaw Road, Oldham, just after 12:00 GMT on Thursday.
GMP said he suffered a serious injury and was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
Two men in their 20s, an 18-year-old and three “juveniles” were arrested. A 19-year-old man and another in his 40s were also arrested but have been released on bail pending further investigation.
Det Ch Insp Charlotte Whalley said it was “believed to be a targeted attack with no wider risk to the public”.
She added: “Firearms have no place on the streets of Oldham and Greater Manchester as a whole, and we take incidents like this incredibly seriously.”
