The One Show host Roman Kemp has been axed from hosting the BRIT Awards despite viewers hailing him a huge success at the role.
Friends of the star say that he will not return for this year’s ceremony which is due to take place on Saturday 1 March at London’s O2 Arena after stepping in at the last minute for the 2024 show.
It can be revealed that Roman was called as a stand in to replace Idris Elba, 52, who pulled out with short notice.
Now BRITs sources are expecting a huge name to replace him, and you never know, it might be Idris.
‘Roman has been told he isn’t hosting this year,’ said BRITs insider. ‘He loved it but accepts that these things change.
‘He was flattered to be chosen to do it last year but he’s a pro and gets it.’

Explaining last year that it was his dream job, he revealed whilst live on Capital radio that he ‘burst into tears’ when he was asked to do present the BRITs.
‘When they told me, I cried,’ said Roman. ‘The BRITs has always been on this pedestal for me, because in terms of excitement in the UK, there is nothing like it.’
After the awards, Kemp posted on Instagram: ‘And just like that, the Brits was hosted. Dream come true had so much fun on what was a very special night.’
The son of Spandau Ballet musician Martin Kemp, 63, was praised for his job last year.
In a viral moment he even convinced Kylie Minogue, who won the BRITs’ Global Icon award, to drink her signature rosé wine from her high heels during an interview with the pop star at her table, saying it would be ‘amiss’ for the pair to not ‘go with an Aussie tradition’.
Roman replaced Jay Blades as host of The Repair Shop for the BBC show’s Christmas special.

During the festive period in 2024 Roman revealed he has stopped taking antidepressants for the first time in 16 years.
He has been candid about his struggle with his mental health and has campaigned tirelessly following the sudden death of his friend, radio producer Joe Lyons, who took his own life.
He said since taking the medication since the age of 15, he had finally stopped taking antidepressants four months prior and now that they were out of his system, he was looking forward to understanding his true emotions.
‘Now while I’m still learning about why I suddenly want to cry more and may get snappier at my friends, I’m excited at understanding what the emotional side of me is really like,’ he told his Instagram followers.
Roman took over from comedian Mo Gilligan, 36, who hosted the show in 2022 and 2023.
