Tom Hanks previously revealed that he’s in ‘better shape now than he was 30 years ago’ just weeks before sparkling concern with his shaking hands.

The legendary actor, 68, left fans worried for his health during this weekend’s appearance on Saturday Night Live when they noted the Forest Gump icon’s trembling hands.

One fan commented under a promotional post on SNL’s official Instagram account, ‘Is Tom Hanks’ hand shaking?’, while another joined the thread to add, ‘I also noticed it!!! And now I am concerned.’ 

But just weeks before, the actor insisted that he’s feeling just as good, if not more so now than he did in his 30s as he detailed the negative side affects he had at 35 during an interview with Entertainment Tonight in November.

While promoting his new movie Here, he said, ‘Look, I’m 68 years old, the hardest for us was when we were playing 35. 

‘That’s time where your metabolism stops, gravity starts tearing you down, your bones start wearing off, you stand differently — I think I’m in better shape now,’ he admitted.

In response to being told he looked ‘good’ the actor said, ‘You know why? Because my kids are grown up, I’m getting decent exercise, and I can eat right. You can’t do that when you’re 35. Life is such a burden!’ 

Meanwhile, Tom also told People of his role: ‘It’s good to look young again… it’s not great to be young again.’

According to an official description, Here follows the story of ‘multiple generations of couples and families who inhabit the same home over the course of a century.’ 

In a creative blend of traditional makeup effects and digital de-aging, both Hanks and co-star Robin Wright seamlessly transition between their teenage selves and their 80-year-old counterparts throughout the film’s expansive timeline. 

He added of the movie’s special effects: ‘That was like the gimmicky kind of aspect of it, because you could do that with regular makeup if you want to do that. But because we have this other super fast-filter computer that happened right then and there, we don’t have to wait for the post-production process to view [what we looked like after being de-aged].’

He went on: ‘Look, I’m 68. The much more difficult part that was both physical and spiritual emotionally is when Richard and Margaret are 35 and 42 — when the ageing process just begins to kick in and you no longer are able to spring up off a couch. And you’re not yet to a place where life slows down completely’

The film star then insisted that he ‘rather be as old as I am’.

Tom’s recent concerns came as he turned out to support SNL host Martin Short along with a slew of guest stars including Scarlett Johansson, Paul Rudd, and John Mulaney.

It’s not the first time fans have expressed worry over the Hollywood leading man’s shaky hands.

In June of 2022, the beloved actor’s shaking led one doctor to tell DailyMail.com it could be an early sign of Parkinson’s.

Hanks appeared unable to control his trembling right hand while holding a microphone and speaking as he promoted Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis movie.

Hanks tried to control the shaking by placing his left hand at the bottom of the microphone, below his right. He also briefly switched hands.

Dr. Stuart Fischer, a Yale University graduate with four years’ experience in emergency medicine, who is now the medical director of two nursing homes in New York City, said the Australia footage suggested the degenerative disease.

‘Parkinson’s would be uppermost in most physicians minds,’ he told DailyMail.com, after viewing the footage.

‘This trembling hand can be an early sign of the disease.

Tom’s appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend sparked fresh concerns for his health

He previously raised concerns after appearing at a June 2022 event in Australia to promote his films Elvis. Hanks’ hands shook, and he appeared to try to control it by using both hands before switching

‘One would think he would be on the path to a neurologists office now if not already.

‘It could be weeks, months or years before it progresses. It could be like with the famous conductor James Levine, it did take many years for a leg tremor to evolve into a bodily manifestation.’

He said the shaking could be tremors, but given Hanks’ age it was unlikely.

‘The other condition it could be is an essential tremor, but this usually occurs at a younger age — although it can be worsened by anxiety and stress,’ he said. ‘It usually affects people in their 20s and 30s.’

Asked if it could be linked to Hanks’ diabetes, he said: ‘No link to type 2 diabetes. I’ve never heard of that at all.’

He also ruled out it being linked to Hanks previously having COVID.
