Shoppers have been warned that a Christmas ornament sold at Matalan “presents a risk of cuts and injuries”.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) stated: “The product presents a risk of cuts and injuries, as the candy cane may become loose and expose a sharp metal point.
“The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005. The product has been recalled from end users by Matalan.”
For further information, customers can access Matalan’s official recall page. The official recall notice reads: “It has come to our attention that the above Christmas Decorations do not meet our usual high standards for quality and safety as the Candy Cane may become loose exposing a sharp metal point, which could present a risk of injury.
“As customer safety is our highest priority, we are immediately recalling the decoration. If you’ve bought any of the above products, please do not use the product and return it at your earliest convenience to your nearest Matalan store where our staff will be happy to give you a full refund. You will not need to produce a receipt to claim a refund.
“If you have bought the above for someone else or know someone who has one then please let them know immediately about this notice.”
Matalan apologised for any inconvenience caused and assured shoppers that no other products are affected by the recall.
