Mariah Carey has insisted she is not a diva when it comes to Christmas presents.
The self proclaimed Queen of Christmas, 55, said she believes she is an easy person to buy a present for as she kicked off the festive season on BBC Radio 2 on Monday.
Phoning into Zoe Ball’s breakfast show, Mariah explained that she doesn’t mind what she gets for Christmas as long as it’s something thoughtful.
She said: ‘I think [I am an easy person to buy for] because it’s really the thought that counts.
‘I mean, I know that sounds cliché, but it’s true. If somebody takes time out of their day, and goes and gets you something, that’s a big deal.’
Mariah made the admission before she officially started the Christmas countdown on Radio 2 by introducing her legendary festive song, All I Want For Christmas Is You.

The star went on to recall ‘having the best moments’ being in the studio recording the song, which is 30 years old this year.
She explained: ‘I remember being in the studio and I had the studio all decked out in Christmas splendour. And I was there with the background singers doing all those [sings]… background parts. You know, I just remember that so vividly.
‘I could never have known how far it would go. But, it was an amazing moment, one of the best moments in the studio I have ever had!’
Mariah’s radio appearance comes hours after she hit the stage in Atlanta, Georgia for her Christmas Time tour.
The ex-wife of Nick Cannon announced the Mariah Carey’s Christmas Time Tour back in August to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her mega-holiday-hit, All I Want For Christmas Is You.
The five-time Grammy-winner kicked off the concert tour on November 6 in Highland, California. She will perform the tour’s final show on December 17 in Brooklyn, New York.
Her Atlanta show marked the Emotions singer’s seventh stop on the 20 show tour. After the her time in the City in a Forest, she will jet over to Nashville, Tennessee.
The setlist boasts an impressive 26 songs and typically runs about 90 minutes in which she vocalizes a mix of holiday classics with modern twists and her greatest hits.
Every night, she closes out the show with her 1994 hit All I Want For Christmas is You — which is dubbed as the most popular holiday song in the world.

Last November, Carey opened up about the real history behind her famous track which she composed with 66-year-old Brazilian songwriter Walter Afanasieff.
She told Parade: ‘I started writing that on a little DX7 or Casio keyboard that was in this little room in the house that I lived in at the time in Upstate New York lifetimes ago.
‘Just writing down everything that I thought about. All the things that reminded me of Christmas that made me feel festive that I wanted other people to feel.’
Though it has widely been reported the track took 15 minutes to write, the hitmaker revealed the recording process was a much different story.
‘We did take some time doing the record because if you listen to all those background vocals and all that stuff, you can’t do it in five minutes,’ she continued. ‘It’s literally impossible unless you had three choirs.’
Back in 2014, Billboard asked Afanasieff if he knew the song would amass the success it did when he and the blonde beauty were writing it at her New York home the summer of ’94.
She said: ‘I think [I am an easy person to buy for] because it’s really the thought that counts. I mean, I know that sounds cliché, but it’s true. If somebody takes time out of their day, and goes and gets you something, that’s a big deal’
‘Twenty years ago, Christmas music and Christmas albums by artists weren’t the big deal that they are today,’ he elucidated. ‘Back then, you didn’t have a lot of artists with Christmas albums; It wasn’t a known science at all back then, and there was nobody who did new, big Christmas songs.’
During Amazon Music’s 2019 mini-documentary, the singer revealed that her favorite line in All I Want for Christmas Is You is ‘I won’t even wish for snow.’
She explained: ‘[It’s my favorite line] because I always wish for snow. I always want it to be, like, a special, festive winter wonderland.’
In fact, the hitmaker takes yearly trips to celebrity-favorite Aspen Colorado to spend some time in the ‘winter wonderland.’
