Rebecca Hall now regrets joining to chorus of celebs who denounced Woody Allen during the height of the #MeToo movement after acting in two of his films.
The British 42-year-old previously scored a Golden Globe nomination in 2009 for her performance as Vicky in the 88-year-old controversial director’s rom-com Vicky Cristina Barcelona, which earned rave reviews and $96M at the box office.
In 2017, Rebecca reteamed with Woody (born Allan Konigsberg) to shoot his rom-com A Rainy Day in New York, and she found herself screaming the following line at Jude Law’s character: ‘You’ve got to stop sleeping with these f***ing 15-year-olds!’
‘And that day, the [Harvey] Weinstein scandal breaks,’ Hall recalled to The Guardian’s Observer Magazine on Sunday.
‘There’s a bank of journalists and paparazzi right there, because Weinstein’s a producer on it, and they’re all listening to me say this.’
At the time, the Independent Spirit Award winner was pregnant with her six-year-old daughter Ida Spector with husband Morgan Spector.

Rebecca paid attention as Allen’s estranged adopted daughter Dylan Farrow publicly shamed actors for working with him after she claimed he molested her as a seven-year-old.
In 2018, Hall issued a statement ‘that my actions have made another woman feel silenced and dismissed’ and pledged to donate her Rainy Day salary to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund alongside castmates Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez, Timothée Chalamet, and Griffin Newman.
‘I was in a tangle,’ the Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire actress explained.
‘Like, in this moment, it’s the most important thing to believe the women. Yes, of course, there’s going to be complications and nuances in these stories, but we’re redressing a balance here. So I felt like I wanted to do something definitive.’
Looking back, Rebecca now wishes she had remained silent, and she doesn’t ‘think that makes me apathetic or not engaged.’
‘It just became, “another person denounces Woody Allen and regrets working with him,” which is not what I said actually,’ Hall noted.
‘I don’t regret working with him. He gave me a great job opportunity and he was kind to me…I don’t think it’s the responsibility of his actors to speak to that situation.’
The nepo-baby of Sir Peter Hall added: ‘I don’t talk to him anymore, but I don’t think that we should be the ones who are doing judge and jury on this.’
Rebecca’s comments come two months after the four-time Oscar winner’s ex-partner of 11 years – Mia Farrow – told CBS Sunday Morning: ‘I completely understand if an actor decides to work with him. I’m not one who’d say, “Oh, they shouldn’t.”‘

‘It almost felt to me like I was exhaling when I first read the script,’ the SAG Award nominee gushed.
‘Because I was like, ah, someone’s daring to make something that feels really about this moment, a time when reality is pretty fragile, actually…It feels like an experience we’re all having on some level. There’s a certain amount of desperation and we’re all going crazy, individually and collectively!’
Rebeeca will also star in her second feature directorial effort Four Days Like Sunday, a mother-daughter drama inspired by her own history, for See-Saw Films.
Hall’s other acting projects include James L. Brooks’ political comedy Ella McCay for 20th Century Studios and Ira Sachs’ drama Peter Hujar’s Day co-starring Ben Whishaw.
