Sir Keir Starmer vowed to clean up politics and it looks like he is starting with his own office.
The Prime Minister is advertising for four housekeepers to keep No 10 spick and span, on salaries of £30,135 each.
Sources insisted that they are replacing cleaners who have retired and will be only cleaning the working building rather than the Downing Street flat where the PM and his family live.
But the Tories questioned why four people were being recruited for the role.
A party source told the Mail: ‘It’s ridiculous that Keir Starmer needs so many housekeepers when he’s always jetting off and hardly ever in No 10. This is yet another example of Starmer frittering away taxpayers’ money.’
Details of the job description posted online by the Cabinet Office state: ‘As a Downing Street Housekeeper you will be responsible for delivering a safe and compliant cleaning services on time whilst providing a leading customer experience to a high-profile site.

‘Strong attention to detail, whilst maintaining excellent working relationships with all building users is an integral part of this role.’
The advert goes on to say that the No 10 housekeepers will be required to ‘create a memorable experience and moments that matter to all internal and external stakeholders’.
Other responsibilities include ‘supporting any key events in and out of normal working hours’, delivery of ‘routine, planned and periodic cleaning’ and to ‘highlight and report any maintenance issues that may arise’.
Successful applicants will need to have a ‘proactive and positive “can do” attitude’ as well as ‘specialist knowledge and high degree of initiative, creativity with a wide scope for discretion’.
But they will, unsurprisingly, also have to undergo rigorous security vetting.
Those applying will have Security Check (SC) level clearance, which usually requires living in the UK for the past five years, have a Criminal Record Check and be screened against the Internal Fraud Database.
