Karl Stefanovic has revealed the moment he was told he needed to hit the gym by his best mate James Packer.
Appearing on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Thursday, the Today Show host, 50, said he was left humbled after a picture of him flaunting his ‘dad bod’ in Noosa caused the billionaire businessman to text him.
‘There’s a shot of me on Christmas Day or whatever coming out of the surf and it was a bad shot,’ Karl told hosts Jackie ‘O’ Henderson and Kyle Sandilands.
‘James Packer sends me a note that says: “mate, you need to get your a**e to the gym”.’
James himself recently revealed that he was still gaining weight despite admitting to being on Ozempic.
‘If you’re getting notes from Packer about that you know it’s serious,’ Kyle cheekily replied.
The photo in question was snapped in Byron Bay over the summer in 2019 when Karl was enjoying some downtime with his wife Jasmine.

‘There’s a shot of me on Christmas Day or whatever coming out of the surf and it was a bad shot,’ Karl told hosts Jackie ‘O’ Henderson and Kyle Sandilands on their radio show on Tuesday. ‘James Packer sends me a note that says: “mate, you need to get your a**e to the gym”
Karl even shared the photo to his Instagram, joking with his followers that he was pregnant.
‘After a great deal of speculation…the rumours are true,’ Karl captioned the self-effacing post
Jackie then asked Karl how he dealt with seeing such ‘confronting images’ and he said that while he was embarrassed, Jasmine had always been very supportive.
‘I feel like it’s a lot of embarrassment, but then my wife is always so good about it,’ Karl said.
‘She’s always like you know what you look really great from front on.’
In fact, Karl admitted that Jasmine may not find him as attractive since he has dropped the pounds.
‘She seems to have got less interested in me in the bedroom since I’ve lost weight,’ Karl said.
Back in 2020, Karl pledged to lose 10 kilograms in 10 weeks on the Today show, after tipping the scales at 105kg.
‘I started at 105kg, the heaviest I’ve ever been and it was incredibly embarrassing,’ Karl said as he spoke to obesity expert Dr. Nick Fuller, who helped him on his fitness journey.
‘I’d like to get down to 90kg at the end of all this. You don’t think that is important but for me, it’s a big psychological thing.’
At the time, Dr. Nick Fuller revealed the surprisingly easy diet he gave Karl to shed the pounds.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, he explained that weight loss should be sustainable and that wholegrain carbs and even the odd cheat meal are allowed.
Dr. Fuller revealed that Karl was following an interval weight loss program that focuses on long term goals, rather than quick and easy fixes.
The author and research leader said Karl was ‘learning to retrain his brain’ to eat healthier foods, including the likes of fruits, nuts, seeds, avocado on wholegrain toast
Elsewhere in the chat, Karl was also questioned about his luscious locks after Today Show viewers noticed that Karl’s hair looks strikingly different since returning from Paris, with his quiff appearing much darker and fuller.
‘What is with the hair?,’ Kyle bluntly asked. ‘Are you bald or not?’
I’m not bald,’ Karl replied. ‘I got the hair from the back and the lower bum, that’s why it’s curly,’ Karl joked.
The radio hosts then brought a leaf blower into the studio, and trained it on Karl’s head to see if his made would stand up under the windy pressure.
‘That’s strangely refreshing,’ Karl laughed as his locks remained affixed firmly to his head.
