Lady Gaga has been engaged to longtime beau Michael Polansky since earlier this year.
And now, the 38-year-old multihyphenate has revealed the details of how the tech entrepreneur popped the question.
As she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday to promote her new movie The Joker: Folie à Deux, the pop star revealed Michael, 46, asked her permission before he proposed.
‘We went on a trip together and we went rock climbing. We’d been rock climbing before, which was super fun. He didn’t propose to me at the top. We climbed up to the top, and we looked around, and we took some photos,’ she detailed.
The music artist added: ‘We went back down and we were just walking back to the room. It was very Michael to ask me if he could ask me. He wanted to know if it was OK to propose before he proposed. I was like, “Yes! It’s so OK!”‘
Jimmy then asked if Michael had got down on one knee to pop the question and she replied: ‘He didn’t. I’m a modern lady. I like what he did.’

When Kimmel asked if she’s planning a big Italian wedding, she replied: ‘I don’t know what we’re going to do. We’re not exactly sure yet.
‘We actually talk a lot about just going to a courthouse just the two of us and [then] ordering Chinese food. But also, knowing me, it could become like a circus with unicorns.’
Gaga recently admitted she thought her businessman beau was joking when he proposed, because he chose to pop the question on April Fool’s Day.
Speaking on The Graham Norton Show on Friday, she explained: ‘He proposed on April 1st, and I thought he was joking.
‘Then when we went to the Olympics, we were filmed saying hello to the Prime Minister [Gabriel Attal] and I was caught on camera saying, “This is my fiancé.” I had wanted to keep it a secret!’
The couple was first romantically linked around New Year’s Eve 2019 and later went Instagram official in early 2020.
Polansky is a 2006 graduate of Harvard University and runs Napster founder Sean Parker’s Parker Group.

The singer-songwriter also spoke about teaming up with Polansky on her newest studio album, Harlequin as he took on the role of co-executive producer.
‘It’s just the first time that we decided to fully go into it and do it. It just felt right,’ Gaga said of their collaboration, adding that they ‘were all warmed up and ready to go.’
