A report into the treatment of women in custody by Greater Manchester Police has been delayed for a third time.
The review, led by former victims’ commissioner Dame Vera Baird, began after several women alleged they had been subjected to unjustified strip searches by the force.
A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) said the report was ready, but would not be published until after the UK general election.
This was due to “pre-election restrictions”, he added.
The Baird Review was due to be published on 10 June,
It has previously been delayed twice due to the finalising process taking longer than expected, and the mayoral election in Manchester in May.
The report was commissioned by Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham and deputy mayor Kate Green last summer after the women came forward.
A GMCA spokesman confirmed to the Local Democracy Reporting Service that the report “will now be published after the election in July”, but did not give an exact date.
