Prince Louis offered an honest assessment of his gymnastic abilities in Glasgow on Saturday as part of the Waleses’ Commonwealth Games outing.
The eight-year-old was chatting with bronze medal-winning twin gymnasts Abigail and Emily Roper when his mother, the Princess of Wales, brought up his latest physical pursuit.
“Louis, you’re perfecting your handstand at the moment,” Catherine said.
Arms folded, the youngest Wales child gave a measured reply: “A bit, but Charlotte says I’m not very good.”

The Roper twins turned to Princess Charlotte to ask whether she could manage one herself. The 11-year-old confirmed simply: “Yeah.”
The exchange came as the family of five met athletes at the final stop of a packed day at Glasgow 2026.
Prince George, 13, was equally forthcoming when the gymnasts posed the same question to him. “I’m rubbish at anything that involves flexibility,” the future king admitted, drawing laughter from both Catherine and the athletes.
Charlotte, by contrast, showed genuine enthusiasm for the discipline. She told the Roper twins that floor is her favourite element of gymnastics, while Catherine added: “Charlotte likes her dancing.”

Prince William, who had been listening in on the conversation, weighed in with a broader summary of his daughter’s interests: “She loves gymnastics and ballet.”
The twin gymnasts, clearly pleased by the young princess’s passion for their sport, marked the occasion by giving Charlotte a Team Wales leotard signed by the athletes.
William then put his youngest son forward to update the Welsh medal tally board after two additional golds were announced.
The eight-year-old took a large number seven sticker and placed it on the display, before returning to his father’s side with his head bowed. William rubbed his son’s back and offered quiet praise.

Later, when Wales secured yet another gold, it was Charlotte’s turn to step up and adjust the tally to eight.
The children also sat down with Para-athletes Aled Davies and Olivia Breen, along with 400m runner Charlotte Henrich. Louis revealed he had recently taken part in his first school sports day, while George said his preferred event is the javelin.
When Catherine was told Louis had expressed a fondness for high jump, she turned to him for confirmation. “Yeah,” he replied flatly, prompting laughter from the table and William to joke: “That’s news to us!”
The outing represented a significant milestone for the youngest member of the Wales family, marking his first public sporting engagement. It was also the first occasion on which all three children attended an official event in Scotland.

Their day at Glasgow 2026 took in netball semi-finals and cycle racing at the velodrome, where the family received a warm reception throughout.
The lighter moments continued when Olivia Breen jokingly suggested William and Catherine could ride a tandem bike in Lycra, prompting the Prince of Wales to quip: “You know me and Lycra!”
Welsh TV presenter Gethin Jones had earlier asked George whether he wanted to see his parents team up on a tandem in the velodrome.
The 13-year-old swiftly replied: “No,” embarrassed by the suggestion.
