Great Britain’s Georgia Taylor-Brown produced a dominant display to win the final women’s event of the regular World Championship Triathlon Series (WCTS) in the Czech Republic.
The 32-year-old finished the punishing hilly course at Karlovy Vary 36 seconds in front of the United States’ Taylor Spivey, finishing the 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run in two hours three minutes five seconds.
Germany’s reigning champion Lisa Tertsch came third, one minute 28 seconds behind Taylor-Brown.
It was the Briton’s best performance of the WCTS season and first victory on the tour since 2023.
She has concentrated on longer distances this season, with the 2020 Olympic silver medallist winning on the T100 tour in Spain in May – her best previous result in the WCTS this season was fourth in Samarkand in April.
Compatriot Beth Potter, who went into the event in second place in the overall standings, finished down in sixth, almost two-and-a-half minutes back.
Of the other British competitors, Kate Waugh was 10th, Sian Rainsley 14th and Olivia Mathias failed to finish.
Sunday’s results meant that Potter was unable to capitalise on the absence of WCTS leader Cassandra Beaugrand of France, who chose not to compete.
Beaugrand leads the championship with a maximum 4,000 points going into the WCTS Grand Finals in Pontevedra, Spain, on 26 September.
Olympic champion Alex Yee heads the British challenge in the men’s event on Sunday in Karlovy Vary, which is due to start at 14:00 BST.
