Georgie Grasso was crowned the winner of The Great British Bake Off 2024 during Tuesday night’s final.
The 34-year-old paediatric nurse from Carmarthenshire in Wales beat fellow finalists Christiaan de Vries, 33, and Dylan Bachelet, 20.
The mother-of-three made history as she is the first Welsh person to win the show and also the first to reach the final.
Georgie looked in shock after her win and was quickly embraced by her husband and children.
She said: ‘I cannot believe I’ve won it. It means everything, it’s just incredible. I can’t believe I’ve won The Great British Bake Off. I’ve always been so self-doubtful.
‘You make excuses and for once I just thought, no I’m going to go for it and put everything into it. I’ve proved to myself that I can do something.’

After her win, judge Prue Leith said: ‘Georgie did what she does best, classic British baking beautifully done and won it, and rightfully too.’
During the show, the three finalists had to make sweet and savoury scones for the signature, afternoon tea for the technical and a three-tier hanging cake for their showstopper.
Georgie impressed the judges on all of her challenges but they were particularly blown away by her hanging cake which was inspired by ‘summer gardens’.
After tasting it, Prue said: ‘That is utterly delicious. It’s got so much filling,’ and also called it ‘soft and luxurious’.
Earlier in the show, Georgie promised Paul Hollywood she would roll down the hill outside the tent if she want and stayed true to her word.
Despite ten weeks of intense competition, the winner of The Great British Bake Off does not receive a cash prize.
They instead receive the more low key winnings of flowers and a cake stand which Georgie will take back to her farm in Carmarthenshire where she and her family live with ten chickens, five ducks, two dogs and a cat.
Viewers quickly took to X to react to Georgie’s win, writing: ‘Deserved! Congratulations Georgie! You did Wales proud.’

‘Well done Georgie’… ‘She deserved it after that show stopper it was stunning.’
‘Congratulations to Georgie Grasso on winning the Great British Bake Off. She Absolutely smashed it. Thank God Alison Hammond saved her from almost giving up last week.’
‘From the three in the final and how they performed and baked over those two days she deserved it!’
Some viewers weren’t happy with the result however, feeling Christiaan de Vries should have been crowned the winner.
‘Christian was the winner for me, but congratulations to Georgie x’… ‘Christian was robbed!’
