Retailers and supermarkets will be locking up their doors early on Tuesday as the UK prepares to celebrate the new year.
GB News looks at which stores will open and their operating hours for New Year’s Eve.
Boots
Boots stores will be open across the UK from 9am to 5pm.
Matalan
While the Leicester City Centre and Wolverhampton outlets will be open from 9am to 5pm, all other Matalan stores will operate from 8am to 4pm.
Almost all Matalan stores will open from 8am to 4pm

Ikea
Ikea will close later than other retailers on the high street, with opening hours of 10am to 6pm.
Primark
Primark stores are expected to open from 9am to 5pm, but customers are advised to check their chosen location.
Argos
The majority of Argos stores will be open from 9am to 7pm on New Year’s Eve. Those located in Sainsbury’s stores will operate at the same hours as the supermarket.
Next
Next stores have been open between 10am and 6pm between Boxing Day and December 30 but will extend their hours slightly for New Year’s Eve. Customers will be able to shop from 8am to 6pm.
Tesco
Customers have been asked to check the Tesco Store Locator for their specific store but the majority of Tesco’s will open between 9am and 6pm.
Sainsbury’s
Supermarket stores will open between 6am and 7am and close between 6pm and 7pm. The smaller Sainsbury’s stores will open from 7am to 8am and will be closing at 9pm.
Asda
The majority of Asda stores will be open from 7am to 7pm but it is advisable to check your store locator for more details.
Lidl
Those who shop inside the M25 get an extra hour in Lidl stores, with stores opening from 8am to 7pm. Stores outside the M25 will open from 8am to 6pm.
Next stores are opening for two hours longer on New Year’s Eve than the rest of the festive season

Morrisons locations are set to open from 7am to 7pm.
Marks & Spencer
Marks & Spencer stores will open from 8am to 6pm but shoppers are advised to check the M&S store locator.
Aldi
Aldi stores will open from 9am to 6pm.
Iceland
Shoppers are encouraged to check the store locator for Iceland’s opening hours but most stores are expected to open from 7am to 6pm.
Waitrose
Stores are expected to open from 8am to 6pm but shoppers are advised to check Waitrose’s store locator.
