Maintaining an active lifestyle is an important component of any effective weight loss strategy.
And of course, any exercise completed during your waking hours is better than being sedentary.
However, according to one expert, the time of day you choose to exercise can make a big difference in your weight loss results.
Taking to TikTok, surgeon and biochemist Dr Reza T (@drreza_t) shared a top tip.
Slimmers should aim to do their daily exercise in the evenings

The expert advised: “When you work out, do it in the evening instead of the morning. In the evening, your metabolism is going to be much lower than in the morning.
“Revving yourself from a low metabolism to a higher metabolism is going to be a lot more beneficial when it comes to weight loss than revving yourself from a high metabolism to a higher metabolism.”
Science Direct defines metabolism as “the process by which the body converts nutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates, and fats from food into energy”.
The expert added that exercising later in the day works to “curb your appetite”. This can reduce the amount of needless snacking a person does in the evening.
Harvard Medical School confirmed that eating later in the day may lead to weight gain.
In a trial published by Cell Metabolism – which saw 16 overweight or obese people test two different meal schedules with identical diets – participants who ate at a later time saw the number on the scales rise.
The experts explained: “Eating later in the day increased participants’ hunger, decreased the number of calories they burned and promoted fat storage.
“Over time, those effects could lead to weight gain. So while it won’t hurt to have an occasional late supper, try not to make it a habit.

For those looking to work out for weight loss, a personal trainer spoke exclusively to GB News about the staple exercises that will torch fat and “really burn some calories”.
Speaking about one of his favourite workouts, Omar Ellaboudy stated: “As long as you don’t have an injury, the easiest thing you can do is run.”
Walking is also incredibly effective, with the expert advising his clients to aim for 9,000 steps per day.
Another expert even claimed slimmers can lose belly fat “for good” by walking, calling it a “number one” exercise.
Diet is also key if you’re trying to lose weight. A doctor shared one of his top tips for weight loss, revealing the liquid hack that is the “easiest” way to slim down.
