ISIS-inspired terrorist Shamsud-Din Jabbar set his luxury New Orleans Airbnb on fire in an attempt to conceal evidence, federal officials revealed.
The US Army veteran, 42, left the two-bedroom, two-bathroom, property on Mandeville Street littered in white powder and wires before he carried out the deadly attack which killed 15 and left at least 35 injured.
He turned the residence into a bomb-making factory before lighting a fire one of the bedrooms.
The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said in a statement that Jabbar ‘set a small fire in the hallway and strategically placed accelerants throughout the house in his effort to destroy it and other evidence of his crime.’
One of the windows of the property was smashed, offering a glimpse inside a scorched room covered in black soot and ash.
However, the investigation determined that after he left, the fire burned itself out before it could spread and by the time New Orleans fire officials arrived, they were able to recover several pieces of evidence.
On site, the NOFD obtained pre-cursors for bomb-making material and a privately made device suspected of being a silencer for a rifle.
They also collected ‘terabytes worth of video’ from local security cameras, clothing and shell cases.

He also was planning to use a transmitter found in the F150 truck used in the attack to detonate two IEDs he’d placed on Bourbon Street which is also being sent to Quantico for testing.
Federal bomb disposal units and investigators wearing hazmat suits descended on the quiet street and cordoned off the rental, urging residents to stay away.
After two days of examining the property investigators have turned it back to its owner, who declined to comment when approached by DailyMail.com, explaining the FBI had asked him not to speak.
Exclusive DailyMail.com photos show the property in complete disarray, with the front and parts of the insides showing scorch marks and empty buckets.
Investigators suspect that the terrorist used the property to build his IEDs which he loaded into the back of his EV-truck on New Year’s Eve.
A cooler was recovered by officers on Bourbon Street, with authorities confirming Jabbar had planned to detonate the device remotely.
The terrorist appeared to use one of the two bedrooms as his bomb-making station, with the bed covered in an unidentified white powder, black wires and plastic.
A queen-sized bed with no pillows was founded littered with a white powdery substance, a pair of scissors, paper, and a plastic Kroger grocery store bag.

Other various items, including a blue box cutter, work gloves, several pairs of latex gloves, and bags of trash, were also found strewn throughout the property.
One trash bag containing discarded work gloves and a takeout box suggested Jabbar had tucked into a pizza before he carried out the deadly massacre.
Strong chemicals for cleaning were left outside the property, along with blue gloves, with one window also appearing to have been smashed.
Cops believe Jabbar, a US citizen born and raised in Texas drove an electric vehicle from Houston to Louisiana to carry out the deadly attack which killed 15 and left at least 35 injured.
Investigators are probing the theory he rented a nearby property on Airbnb in the New Orleans neighborhood of St. Roch for his base before carrying out the attack.
Earlier this week exclusive DailyMail.com photographs show the moment the FBI removed bomb-making materials from the two-bedroom and two-bathroom property close to the French Quarter.
A total containment vessel was seen being taken away from the property at around 8pm on New Years Day, hours after authorities had evacuated residents from the area.
The area is mostly rentals available to tourists travelling to the area for the holiday period, who have now been left without a place to stay.

Authorities told one couple ‘not to count’ on being allowed back into the properties, blocking off a three-street radius.
Officials were called to the property after firefighters put out a fire at the rental in the early hours, with sources claiming ‘bomb making materials’ were found.
State Attorney General Liz Murrill told NBC News: ‘We know that these individuals had rented the house were using it for that purpose.’
The two-bed two-bathroom property was revamped by real estate developer Oliver Doxater at Wysteria Properties.
Jabbar had been living in a dilapidated trailer in the outskirts of Houston before traveling to New Orleans to carry out the deadly rampage.
On Thursday, DailyMail.com photos gave a glimpse inside the shabby abode, revealing Jabbar left the home in disarray and left behind dozens of religious items.
Along with the cheap furniture he abandoned in the trailer was a Koran, prayer mats and a book on Islamic banking and finance.
That book, The Art of RF (Riba-Free) Islamic Banking and Finance purports to ‘take a modern American approach to incorporating Islamic financial principles into banking and investment techniques’.

Riba – charging interest on loans – is prohibited in Islamic finance as it is considered an unjust gain.
When DailyMail.com visited the home on the eastern edge of the Heritage Village section of the city early on Thursday, the front door was closed. But when we returned later in the day it had been kicked off its hinges allowing the world to see in.
Jabbar was shot dead in a gun battle with police moments after plowing his vehicle into a crowd of revelers.
He had been an open admirer of the Islamic terror group ISIS and had the group’s flag flying from his vehicle.
And his home in a largely Muslim neighborhood of North Houston shows his devotion to Islam. A copy of the Koran was left open on an easel next to a vase of faux flowers.
Other books inside the home included a seven-volume set known as the Islamic library, including a book titled ‘The Sealed Nectar’- a comprehensive biography of the Prophet Muhammad and several pamphlets on comparative religions.
Although the home was disheveled it was clean.
The home gives the impression that Jabbar left in a hurry. A suitcase and two prayer mats were thrown over a blue couch in the living area, along with a black belt.
Incongruously among the religious items in his living room, a dart board hung on the wall next to a fake fireplace.

By the front door, Jabbar left behind a mobile credit card machine, duct tape and bubble wrap and several pairs of shoes.
In the kitchen, there were pantry items on the countertop alongside a white fire extinguisher. Below the countertop area in the kitchen, a military green backpack sat on the floor near a black garbage can.
Near the kitchen area Jabbar had a desk with several papers and other items left on top, there is an area where the hard drive of his computer was taken by police hours earlier.
According to a neighbor Jabbar left his house just hours before he went on his New Year’s Day rampage, saying he was moving to New Orleans for a better job.
Muntaz Bashir told the New York Post that Jabbar had left just hours before the 3:15am attack.
Bashir said the neighbor appeared normal when he spoke to him. ‘Unfortunately, you can’t read someone’s mind. I was shocked.’
