2. Zara McDermott low-key return
Zara McDermott made a dramatic return to Strictly Come Dancing last month and it seemed that BBC bosses were trying to keep her presence in the studio on the down low
The former Love Island star, 27, attended the show as an audience member with boyfriend Sam Thompson to support close pal Pete Wicks
Zara McDermott made a dramatic return to Strictly Come Dancing in September and it seemed that BBC bosses were attempting to keep her presence in the studio on the downlow.
The former Love Island star, 27, attended the show as an audience member with boyfriend Sam Thompson to support close pal Pete Wicks.
Zara took to the Strictly dance floor last year before becoming embroiled in scandal after footage of her professional partner Graziano Di Prima physically and verbally ‘abusing her’ was unearthed by BBC staff.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed that as cameras focused on the audience during the first live show of the 2024 series on Saturday, the shot cut away as Zara came into frame and strategically switched to a view of the back of ex contestant Fleur East’s head.
Fans wrote: ‘Producers panicking that its showing Zara, so went to Fleur’s hair instead; Not the camera cutting away quickly when it was closing in on Zara McDermott.
‘It’s giving producers panicking that it’s showing Zara so they went to Fleurs hair in panic; The way they’re so obviously cutting zara out of all these shots’.
Meanwhile others added: ‘Didn’t Zara McDermott make all these bullying allegations against the Pro’s and slagged off the show but she’s in the Audience’.
3. Shirley and Motsi kiss
Strictly Come Dancing’s Shirley Ballas apologised after shocking audiences by kissing fellow judge Motsi Mabuse during the first live show on Saturday night

Shirley explained that the style was ‘all in the posture’ as she asked Motsi to help her illustrate the point.
Anton Du Beke encouraged them as she shouted ‘go on girls’ – just as Shirley moved her head a certain way and accidentally locked lips with Motsi.
Breaking her silence on the moment on Instagram on Sunday morning after the show Shirley joked: ‘Sorry @motsimabuse you moved your head too soon! @bbcstrictly what did you think of last night’s show?’
4. Craig’s ill-judged booze comment
Craig Revel Horwood has come under fire for making an ill-judged comment about booze to recovering alcoholic Paul Merson on Strictly Come Dancing
The judge, 59, was giving feedback to the former footballer, 56, on Saturday night’s show after he danced a Salsa to Pitbull’s Fireball with partner Karen Hauer
Craig Revel Horwood has come under fire for making an ill-judged comment about booze to recovering alcoholic Paul Merson.
The judge, 59, was giving feedback to the former footballer, 56, on Saturday night’s show after he danced a Salsa to Pitbull’s Fireball with partner Karen Hauer.
In the routine Paul was cooking at a BBQ with a drink in his hand before ditching the glass and beginning the choreography.
He received a poor 15 points out of 40 for the routine and Craig said it looked like his ‘feet were glued to the floor’ and that Karen just ‘danced around’ him.
The straight-talking expert added: ‘It was like a comedy dance at a wedding I’m afraid. It was really not good. Those shunts were terrible.’
Craig then said of the props at the start: ‘Obviously the drinks at the BBQ gave you the confidence to do that.’
Paul then looked at his feet and mumbled: ‘I don’t drink’, in an awkward moment on the live show.
Viewers were quick to notice the interaction as they penned on X: ‘#Strictly please can you inform Craig Revel Horwood that Paul Merson is a recovering alcoholic. It was an appalling comment to him. He needs to apologise.’,
‘Will Craig be made to apologise for comments to Paul Merson totally out of order!’
5. Craig’s ‘sickening’ comment
Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left ‘feeling sick’ at a particular moment last month
Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left ‘feeling sick’ at a particular moment last month.
Just before Love Island’s Tasha Ghouri and her professional partner Aljaž Škorjanec to perform their Viennese Waltz, Craig chatted with host Tess Daly about the pair’s previous dance.
Tess said: ‘There’s only really one way to describe our social media star, isn’t there, Craig?’
Craig replied: ‘Skibidi rizz, darling. Ski-bi-di rizz!’
Tess seemed clueless as to what the term meant, as she introduced the VT of the contestants in rehearsals.
According to Urban Dictionary, the phrase is the ‘is the second-highest level of Rizz’, a Gen-Z diminutive version of the word ‘charisma’.
Other definitions include the ‘charisma displayed by a male to a female’ at the start of a conversation, whilst the whole term seems to just be a nonsense joke.
6. Nick Knowles is forced to withdraw
The DIY SOS star missed out on Movie Week, just a week after his future on the show was thrown into doubt due to an injury
During a dress rehearsal of his Charleston, Nick fell and injured his knee during a jump, leaving him on crutches and heading to hospital for an MRI scan after already injuring his arm

The singer, 66, who was the latest star to leave the competition, has been married to musician Robert Fripp since 1986 and is the eldest contestant taking part in this year’s competition.
Robert proudly sat in the audience during movie week to watch Toyah and pro dancer Neil Jones tackle Ursula the sea witch’s Poor Unfortunate Souls from The Little Mermaid.
After the performance, Craig told the pair it was ‘all a bit stuck in the mud, ploddy and floppy.’
Robert stood up and started to boo Craig, while he hit back and told Robert to sit down with a smile on his face.
8. Jowita falls head of heels for Pete
Strictly’s Pete Wicks and partner Jowita Przystal nearly suffered an on-air blunder last week.
The profesional dancer almost tripped over Pete’s feet as they danced during movie week.

Nikita Kuzmin left Strictly viewers in hysterics during last week’s result show, as he made a massive blunder while speaking to host Claudia Winkleman.
The professional dancer, who had just got through to week four of the BBC show with his celebrity partner Sam Quek, was asked what the pair would be dancing to next week when he made a hilarious error.
He said: ‘I can give you more than a taste. Well first of all we are dancing the Samba,’ before breaking out into Shakira’s hit 2001 song, Whenever, Wherever’.
Nikita jumped out of his seat and sang, ‘Le-do-lo-le-lo-le, Le-do-lo-le-lo-le, Whenever, wherever, we’re meant to be together, I’ll be there, and you’ll be near,’ prompting his fellow dancers to also join in singing and dancing to the track.
However, as the former Celebrity Big Brother star returned to his seat, Claudia said: ‘Nikita, I love you so much but it was the other Shakira song’.
Nikita’s jaw quickly dropped as he was left red faced with his head in his hands before Claudia asked how the track, Hips Don’t Lie actually goes, leaving him completely blanked faced.
The moment caused his partner Sam’s draw to drop in shock while co-stars Gorka Márquez, Aljaz Škorjanec, Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystal were all bent over laughing at the hilarious mistake.
Following the show, Nikita took to Instagram and apologised to Shakira, he penned: ‘OMG sorry @shakira’.

Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left feeling ‘annoyed’ during a particular segment in Saturday night’s live show – with some branding it ‘awful and unfortunate’

Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left feeling ‘annoyed’ during a particular segment in Saturday night’s live show – with some branding it as ‘awful and unfortunate’.
Things seemed to be going well in the third week of the BBC dancing competition, until head judge Shirley Ballas gave some feedback.
As the camera panned to her and fellow judge Motsi Mabuse, two pairs of legs from the audience came into view right behind them.
One eagle-eyed fan noticed the blunder and took to X to vent their frustration at the awkward shot.
‘Rather unfortunate positioning of two lady audience members on Strictly Come Dancing tonight. Looks like the loo door has been left open. #strictlycomedancing #Strictly.’
Many others commented underneath saying they too had spotted it:
‘I noticed that too. Thought it was awful’…’Was very distracting!’
