You can watch the latest must-see NFL games from the US without spending a penny on sports subscriptions.

It’s all thanks to a new NFL show airing on Channel 5 on Sunday evenings, which will feature two games each week throughout the American football season. The first game will be broadcast at 6pm on Channel 5, and the second will be streamed live at 9pm on 5ACTION — which is a free channel owned by Channel 5.

That’s not all, though.

You’ll also be able to watch the Super Bowl in the UK, along with the NFL London and Dublin Games. Plus, you can view Thanksgiving Day specials and three of their playoff games in the postseason.

This is part of a multi-year deal that includes live coverage of the NFL season, which has not been available in the UK for a while. Coverage of the games will start at 5:30pm on game nights, hosted by Dermot O’Leary, Sam Queke, and two-time Super Bowl winner Osi Umenyiora.

To access Channel 5, you can tune into Freeview, Freesat and Freely, which are all free-to-air

“I’m really excited about hosting Big Game Night – the show combines two of my big loves: entertainment television and American football. I think it will be a really fun, silly and brilliant way to watch the game, so I hope people enjoy it,” said Mr. O’Leary.

Mr. Umenyiora said: “The NFL is growing faster than ever in the UK, and I’m thrilled to continue playing a part in that expansion by bringing it to a new home on 5. These shows will give returning fans the insight they love while introducing viewers to the excitement of the game. It’s incredible to see the NFL becoming a truly global sport and inspiring more fans than ever.”

If you’re interested in streaming these, mark your calendars for the first Sunday games, which will kick off on Channel 5 and 5ACTION on Sunday, September 7.

To access this, you can tune into Freeview, Freesat, and the newest addition to the lineup, Freely. These are all free-to-air and are usually baked into the software on your flatscreen, so there’s no need for an extra set-top box. That said, you will need a TV licence to watch all of this US content.

But, if you want to watch every game this season, you’ll still need to subscribe to the DAZN Game Pass.

A subscription to NFL Game Pass gives you access to every single NFL match throughout the season, from preseason friendlies right through to the Super Bowl itself. That means you’ll be able to stream all 335 games across the campaign, watching them either as they happen or catching up later on demand.

You can also view up to four matches at once through their new multiview feature, which may be beneficial for those Sunday nights when multiple games are running simultaneously.

The service will set you back £15.99 for NFL Game Pass each week, or you can commit to the entire season for £169.99 paid upfront. That’s a saving of £21.89 over the course of the next 12 months and hundreds of NFL fixtures.

Alternatively, there’s a monthly instalment option at £17.99 across 12 payments. You can also watch the preseason for free when you sign up for an account.

It can also be watched on smart TVs, mobile devices, computers, and game consoles as an effort to provide cable-free access to sports content.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

Beyond the matches themselves, you’ll gain access to NFL RedZone, an American sports television channel owned and operated by the NFL Network since 2009. There’s also round-the-clock access to NFL Network, bringing you draft coverage, free agency updates and scouting for the NFL draft.

There’s also additional programming, including exclusive documentaries, behind-the-scenes content, and original series that take you deeper into the sport.

DAZN offers the flexibility to download matches for offline viewing, meaning you can watch your team even when travelling on the Underground or flying abroad. The platform now supports access across more than 200 countries worldwide, so your subscription travels with you.
