The transfer deadline is looming over the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham as clubs fight for their final signings of the summer market. In north London, one last big addition is still possible with Youri Tielemans, Marco Asensio and Yeremy Pino all linked to the Gunners – but a move for Pedro Neto has reportedly been dismissed.
Chelsea have now agreed a £70million deal for Wesley Fofana and he is expected for a medical today, while they have also revived their interest in Wilfried Zaha. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Anthony Gordon are other major targets while Arsen Zakharyan has emerged as a genuine contender to arrive at Stamford Bridge.
Lucas Paqueta has also had a medical ahead of his own big-money move, to West Ham, while Tottenham continue their clear-out with Sergio Reguilon the next player to depart Antonio Conte’s squad. Antony to Manchester United is also on the verge of being completed, which could see Hakim Ziyech return to Ajax. Follow all the latest transfer news, gossip and rumours below!
De Jong going nowhere
Frenkie de Jong is now expected to stay at Barcelona despite a whole summer of rumours linking him with a move away.
Manchester United have spent much of the window trying to bring the Dutchman to Old Trafford, but the midfielder has made it clear he wants to stay at Barcelona, despite issues over his wages.
Ben Jacobs reports that De Jong is set to get his wish, with United giving up on him and Chelsea not making any progress either.
Reguilon set for Atletico
The Tottenham clearout looks set to continue.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Sergio Reguilon is on the verge of joining Atletico Madrid on loan, with an agreement reached between the two clubs.
Reguilon will travel for a medical tomorrow ahead of joining Atletico on a season-long loan. There’s no buy option included in the deal.
Dortmund stand firm on Bellingham
Borussia Dortmund have no intention of selling Jude Bellingham.
Liverpool have been linked with the England midfielder, and Fabrizio Romano claims Dortmund have rejected a number of offers for Bellingham this summer.
Club director Sebastian Kehl hopes the 19-year-old stays at Dortmund for years to come.
He said. “I hope that Jude Bellingham will stay at BVB beyond 2023. I can see he feels super comfortable with us.”
Lage: We can’t have just one striker
Wolves boss Bruno Lage wants his side to sign a new striker in the next few days before the window shuts.
“We can’t start the Premier League with just one striker and we’ve started it with one striker,” he told Sky Sports after his side drew 1-1 with Newcastle this afternoon.
“We can’t just have a team 11 players we have to have a big squad for competition between the positions. When something happens like Raul [Jimenez getting injured] in pre-season, we did a fantastic job but a winger coming inside is not a striker.
“If you look at the other teams yesterday, [Aleksandr] Mitrovic has already four goals and [Erling] Haaland got a big hat-trick, we need that kind of means. Raul is a big player but we need one more solution to score goals.”
Ajax in for Ziyech
Hakim Ziyech could be set for a return to Ajax.
Gianluca De Marzio reports that Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Antony for €100m plus add-ons, with the player getting the move he wants.
Ajax will move for Ziyech as a replacement and it’s claimed that move is getting closer.
Chelsea consider Ampadu offer
Chelsea are weighing up a loan offer for Ethan Ampadu, with Serie A side Spezia including an option to buy at £12million.
Spezia hope to beat competition from clubs in England, Spain and Germany and see the Wales international return to Italy where he excelled at Venezia last season.
The 21-year-old has been given the green light to leave with his World Cup hopes in the balance, as Wales prepare to compete at the showpiece event in Qatar.

Paqueta has West Ham medical
West Ham boss David Moyes has confirmed that Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta has undergone a medical ahead of his club record move to the London Stadium.
The Brazilian international is set to become Moyes’ eighth signing of the summer in a deal that could eventually rise to €60million including add-ons.
“I understand he’s had a medical today, I’ve not ben able to confirm yet if it’s all good or all bad,” Moyes said, following Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Aston Villa. “I’m obviously really hoping it comes off because I think he’s an excellent player, he can add something for us.”

Gakpo coy on future
Cody Gakpo has refused to rule out leaving PSV in the coming days.
The winger has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United this summer, and believes United’s pursuit of Antony will not impact what happens to him between now and the end of the window.
“Antony to Man Utd? Nice for him, but for me and my future, I think that has no influence,” Gakpo told ESPN.
“It’s like a puzzle so in the next days I will see which puzzle fits best — for me, it’d be certainly not bad to stay at PSV. We’ll see.”
Chelsea revive Zaha interest
Chelsea have revived their interest in Wilfried Zaha, according to the latest reports.
The Blues are desperate for attacking reinforcements before Thursday’s transfer deadline but have thus far been frustrated in their protracted pursuits of Anthony Gordon and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Per The Independent, Chelsea have now turned their attentions back to Zaha in the final days of the window, with the Ivorian having only one year left to run on his Crystal Palace contract.
