David Haye cleared of assault after judge finds ex-boxer has no case to answer

ormer boxing champion David Haye has been cleared of assault after a judge ruled that he has no case to answer.

Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring told Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday afternoon that after hearing all of the prosecution’s evidence and reviewing the CCTV footage of the alleged assault, the bench was satisfied that “that there is no case to answer”.

Chief magistrate Paul Goldspring, sitting with two magistrates, dismissed the case at the end of the prosecution evidence. The trial uncovered inconsistencies in the evidence against Haye, while CCTV appeared to contradict claims he had grabbed the man around the throat.

Speaking to the press outside court immediately after the ruling, Mr Haye said he was “very happy” and “very pleased” with the result.
