Shocking footage captured on CCTV shows the moment three teenage girls launched a fatal assault on an elderly man at a north London bus stop.

The trio, aged 15 and 17, received sentences totalling 10 years in youth detention after admitting to killing 75-year-old Fredi Rivero in the unprovoked attack on Seven Sisters Road in February.

The youngest attacker received two years and six months, whilst her accomplices were handed three years and six months, and four years respectively.

The disturbing video evidence, recorded by one of the perpetrators themselves, proved crucial in securing their convictions for manslaughter after they initially attempted to shift blame amongst themselves following their arrests.

CCTV cameras captured the teenagers shouting at Mr Rivero whilst he stood waiting for his bus on February 27.

The footage shows them pushing the pensioner before one of the girls struck him in the face with her fist.

The blow sent the 75-year-old tumbling backwards, his head striking the pavement with devastating force.

Emergency services rushed him to hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries the next day.

The Metropolitan Police revealed that the attackers found the assault amusing, with one recording the incident on her mobile whilst the violence unfolded.

The teenagers identities remain protected due to their ages.

Metropolitan Police officers launched an immediate manhunt after the assault, locating two of the attackers in a nearby park within hours.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

The third suspect was apprehended at her residence shortly afterwards.

During questioning, the teenagers immediately turned on each other. “I swear to god she pushed him and then he fell and hit his head. That’s nothing to do with me,” one of the girls told detectives.

Mr Rivero’s daughter paid tribute to her father, describing him as “a kind, gentle, and polite man who was deeply loved by his family, friends, and the local community”.

She added: “He was my most loyal friend, and now he is my brightest star,” she said in a statement released through police.

She revealed her father’s passion for chess and calligraphy, his love of the rock band Queen, and their shared enjoyment of stargazing together.

“He held strong values of integrity, dignity, and love, instilled in him by his family. He was a peaceful man who never went out of his way to trouble anyone,” she added.

The grieving daughter spoke of the devastating impact on their family, saying they were “deeply affected and traumatised” and experiencing “profound grief and immense pain” following his death.

Detective Inspector Devan Taylor, who headed the Metropolitan Police investigation, expressed his revulsion at the teenagers’ behaviour.

“Firstly, I would like to send my deepest condolences to Fredi family, they have showed remarkable strength throughout this horrible ordeal and are a testament to his memory,” DI Taylor stated.

He condemned the assault as “a completely unprovoked attack by three teenage girls, on an elderly man who was just going about his day,” adding that “the fact they filmed the attack and found it funny is even more sickening.”
