Britons are being reminded to “improve” their savings by switching to an account with a high interest rate account with major banks offering accounts at 7.5 per cent.

Experts from Moneyfactscompare have compiled a list of the best savings accounts for the week beginning October 13, 2025.

Among the banks and building societies singled out by the financial services comparison website include Nationwide Building Society and NatWest.

Savers are rushing to secure a high interest account before further interest rate cuts from the Bank of England later this year.

Britons are looking for the switch deals | GETTY

Adam French, the head of News at Moneyfactscompare.co.uk, said: “Many of the top paying accounts rallied, with several changes benefitting those happy to lock their savings away in a fixed bond for a year or more.

“Those savers who want to improve their savings habit might want to open a regular savings account. These are designed to take recurring deposits every month and can help build up a savings nest egg.

“Despite several savings providers making changes in the last week, the Moneyfacts Average Savings Rate is unchanged at 3.44 per cent week-on-week – which is below the rate of inflation. Savers must take time out to ensure their pots are earning decent returns, as loyalty does not pay.

“Challenger banks and building societies are paying some of the best rates on the market, which should not be overlooked. Signing up to rate alerts and allowing banking app notifications is a good idea to be kept in the know on any rate moves.”
