PS5 UK stock – live: Latest restock news from Amazon, BT, AO, Very and more

On the hunt for the elusive console? Follow along with our live restock updates

(The Independent)

UPDATE: The PS5 could drop at Asda, BT Shop and Amazon soon. Read on for more information.

Spring is here. The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, and it’s still ridiculously hard to buy a PS5. What’s new? It has now been well over a year since its launch, yet we’re all still struggling thanks to the ongoing global semiconductor shortage sparked by the coronavirus pandemic. Sony’s Playstation 5 was released in November 2020 and it’s still a challenge to buy one today.

That said, things are certainly looking up this March after having faced a dire start to 2022 with the worst two months for drops on record in January and February. In the first few weeks alone, we’ve seen restocks from AmazonEE, HamleysShopToPlayStation DirectVeryLittlewoodsAOJohn Lewis & Partners (finally), Smyths ToysGame – twice, Currys and Argos.

Our liveblog is here to get you one of Sony’s elusive next-gen consoles, as well as provide you with the details on the best games and accessories to grab alongside your new machine. If you want to find out which online retailers will be the first to restock, then keep scrolling to receive updates as they happen.

When could Smyths Toys restock the PS5?

(Smyths Toys)

Smyths Toys is one of the trickiest retailers to predict restocks at, simply because there’s never any real rhyme or reason to its drops. The retailer dropped the console last week, so we aren’t expecting another drop for a while though.

When the console does drop at Smyths Toys, it’s usually easier to buy the console in-store than it is online, with the thing selling out in minutes on the site, but customers still managing to purchase it by walking in. Heading in to your local branch always gives you the best chance of securing a console.

Dyson drops its new airwrap multi-styler early

OK, this isn’t a PS5 by any stretch of the imagination, but some among us would say it is even better than a PS5. You heard it here first – Dyson has just droped its airwrap styler early!

The latest “multi-styler” is said to be an advancement on the original airwrap (£449.99,, which reached cult status thanks to its ability to achieve voluminous, lightly curled locks with minimal heat damage. After the latest model? Find out how to buy one below.

When was the last Very PS5 restock?

The last time Very had a PS5 drop was on 8 March at 9:15am. Very has quickly become one of our favourite PS5 stockists, with drops lasting up to four hours in recent weeks and months.

We aren’t expecting another Very restock until the end of March – at the earliest. Stock usually drops between 9am and 10am in the morning, and most frequently on a Tuesday.

Why is the digital edition PS5 harder to buy than the disc?

If you’ve been following our stock updates for a while, you’ve probably noticed that the PS5 disc edition console is far easier to buy than the digital edition.

It’s been this way ever since the console was first released back in November. When Eurogamer spoke to sources at various retailers before the console launched, it was told that retailers had been allocated around 25 per cent digital edition consoles and 75 per cent disc edition consoles.

We don’t know if the situation has changed since then, but we still see fewer digital edition consoles dropping than disc edition consoles. Retailers themselves might also prefer to order in the disc edition console over digital – they cost more (£449.99) for one, and they can bundle it with physical games to charge a premium.

Even though Sony built a lighter PS5 console, it still seems like the digital edition is harder to find than the disc.

Could the PS5 drop at AO soon?

Two weeks ago, AO  dropped one Horizon Forbidden West bundle onto its website, but it sold out within literal minutes. Could it have another restock soon?

It’s possible! The retailer frequently restocks once every three to four weeks, so there is potential for another drop towards the end of the month.

Just to note – AO takes down all PS5 links after the console sells out, so none of the links to AO from this liveblog will work until the console is actually in stock. When and if it does go live, you’ll see the console populate on the AO PS5 search link.

‘Hogwarts Legacy’ PS5 recap

Missed out on the Hogwarts Legacy PlayStation State of Play event last night and want to catch up on all the action?

Have a read back of our Hogwarts Legacy liveblog for all the info. The game has a holiday season 2022 release date, so we should see the game drop around Christmas – a very Harry Potter move.

Could BT PS5 stock drop soon?

The BT Shop is a great retailer to buy a PS5 from, with stock frequently lasting days rather than hours. It last restocked consoles at 10am on 24 February, so we could see another restock around this time next week. The bad news? The drop is super exclusive.

You need an access code to buy the console from the BT Shop, which is something only available to BT Broadband customers. This can be found on your MyBT portal. Just log in, scroll down to the “Your Offers” section and click on the PS5.

You can also register your interest on the BT website. You’ll receive an email containing an access code that will take you directly to the order page where you can buy a PS5 when it goes live. It’s basically the same method as above, but with less steps. You’ll need your account details for both.

When could Amazon restock the PS5?

(The Independent)

At the start of March, Amazon dropped the digital edition PS5 console onto its website. The restock lasted barely 10 minutes, as is common with digital edition drops, but if you were thinking that would be it for Amazon, think again. The retailer hasn’t dropped any disc edition consoles this month.

Amazon last dropped the disc edition console on 23 February, and it usually restocks this version of the console once every four weeks, meaning we could see another drop very, very soon. So when could it take place?

Next Wednesday, we’re thinking. Keep an eye out on Amazon (or this liveblog) every Wednesday – this is usually when the retailer likes to restock the PS5.
