PS5 stock – live: Latest UK restock news from Game, Very, AO, Amazon and more

We’ve got all the latest news on upcoming drops
(The Independent)
UPDATE: The PS5 could drop at Game, Very and AO soon. Read on for more information.
Spring has arrived. The birds are singing, the snow is sleeting (eh?) and it’s still difficult to buy a PS5. What’s new? It has now been well over a year since its launch, yet we’re all still struggling to find a console thanks to the ongoing global semiconductor shortage sparked by the coronavirus pandemic.
That said, things certainly looked up in March after having faced a dire start to 2022 with the worst two months for drops on record in January and February. In March, we saw multiple restocks from Amazon, Game, ShopTo, PlayStation Direct, Very and many more. Let’s hope April takes the restocks to the next level.
Our liveblog is here to get you one of Sony’s elusive next-gen consoles, as well as provide you with the details on the best games and accessories to grab alongside your new machine. If you want to find out which online retailers will be the first to restock, then keep scrolling to receive updates as they happen.

Can you play PS4 games on PS5?
If you’re sitting there right now, staring at your stack of PS4 games, wondering whether they will play on your new PS5. Don’t worry, they certainly will!
If you’ve got the disc edition console, all that blood, sweat and tears finishing those campaigns won’t have gone to waste because you will be able to insert your PS4 discs and play them on the PS5 just fine. Only PS4 games bought on the PlayStation Store will work on the digital edition console, however. Why? Well, because you’ll be trying to slot a disc into a non-existent hole and that’s not a great idea.
Most of the PS4 games have had generous price cuts since the PS5 came out, so it’s worth reading our round-up of the best PS4 games to shop now.

PS5 pro release date
What? You still haven’t got a PS5 and we’re already talking about the PS5 pro? What is this? April Fools?
Yup, while we’re all still here struggling to secure a next-gen console, some people are looking ahead to a potential PS5 pro, with rumours suggesting that one could be released in 2023 or 2024. Imagine if it’s released and we’re still experiencing stock shortages of the PS5 itself. That would be a disaster.

Best PS5 games
Want to do a bit of window shopping in preparation for the day you finally get your hands on a PS5? We’ve got a round-up of all the best PS5 games out right now.
One of our favourite games is Elden Ring, “Just when you think you’ve uncovered everything Elden Ring has to offer, it throws something new, jaw-dropping and challenging all in equal measure,” our writer said in their review. “It’s no wonder the game has become such a behemoth and has sold over 12m copies in less than a month.”

How many restocks were there in March?
We haven’t had a single restock this entire week, but we’ve still got an afternoon left and a weekend, which could see ShopTo deliver the first restock in April. But how did March fare overall?
It was certainly better than January and February, but not by much. It seemed like most retailers went fast and hard at the start of the month, giving us a false sense of security. Most retailers only restocked the console once during the month, with just three retailers – Game, Amazon and EE – dropping more times than that. Here’s our run-down:
PS5 restock leaderboard for March
Beat 17 in April, retailers, so we can all get ourselves a PS5.

Could ShopTo drop the PS5 this weekend?
(ShopTo)
ShopTo is a retailer we haven’t seen PS5 stock from in a while. The retailer pretty much won February with its two restocks on 13 February and 20 February, but it only had one drop in March on the 6th.
We could see another restock from the retailer this weekend on 3 April. Sunday is when it usually drops stock. Expect consoles to arrive sometime in the afternoon.

Game could restock the PS5 next week
(Game)
Game was the king of restocks in March, and it could be the king of April too if the release date on the retailer’s PS5 bundles page is anything to go by.
Game has updated the page with a new release date of Thursday 14 April, meaning we could see consoles drop sometime between 5-7 April.
When Game says “release date” it actually means “dispatch date”, or the latest date that orders will be dispatched from Game’s warehouse. It usually restocks the console a week and a half before this date.
