Hollywood star Richard Gere has entered into a formal partnership with Prince Albert of Monaco to pursue joint environmental protection efforts.
The agreement, signed on Saturday between the Gere Foundation and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, establishes a collaborative framework through which both organisations will identify shared priorities and pool their expertise.
The deal was struck just one day after the actor, 77, appeared as a guest of honour at a lavish gala marking the Monegasque foundation’s 20th anniversary.
The celebration, held at Monaco’s Opéra Garnier, brought together some 250 guests, with Princess Charlene also in attendance alongside her husband.

Mr Gere described the collaboration as a natural alignment of values, telling Monaco Life: “Both foundations share a belief that compassion and responsibility must translate into meaningful action.
“I am very pleased to see our organisations open this new chapter together and explore how our experience, networks and shared concerns can contribute to protecting the planet and building a more sustainable future.”

Ms Aguilera performed during the evening, while Mr Gere offered a private dinner with him as part of an auction.
Mr Gere, who has spent more than half a century in the film industry, is married to Spanish publicist Alejandra Silva, 43.
The couple married in April 2018 and are parents to two young sons, Alexander, seven, and James, six.

Both also have a son from previous relationships; Mr Gere is father to Homer, 26, from his marriage to former wife Carey Lowell.
The family tends to keep a low profile, with the couple rarely sharing images of their children publicly.
At the Monaco gala, the Pretty Woman star cut a polished figure in black tie alongside Prince Albert and Princess Charlene.
