Princess Anne’s lady-in-waiting, Dolly Maude, accompanied Zara Tindall at Cheltenham racecourse on her brother, Peter Phillips’s birthday.

The pair, who are old friends, donned the racing with Mrs Maude, 51, having unofficially served as the “right-hand woman to” Zara and the Princess Royal for years.

The 51-year-old was the maid of honour at the Tindall’s wedding in 2011 and has been described as “fiercely loyal and discreet” by those who know her.

Mrs Maude joined her close friend as Zara’s brother celebrated his 48th birthday on November 15.

The Princess Royal’s lady-in-waiting helped deliver Zara’s third child on a bathroom floor, after the baby arrived far earlier than expected in 2021.

She is known for her love of horses and is often seen in Ascot’s royal box alongside Princess Anne.

Mrs Maude made her first official appearance as the Princess’s lady-in-waiting in March last year.

A friend of the 51-year-old previously told The Telegraph: “She’s such a great girl. For the Princess Royal, it’s a perfect fit because of their shared love of dogs and horses.

“She’s not only extremely close to Zara, she also gets on brilliantly with the Princess.

“She’s fiercely loyal and discreet. It’s a great match.”

The pair’s appearance at Cheltenham comes as the Princess Royal travelled to Singapore, completing a two-day working visit to commemorate six decades of diplomatic ties between Britain and Singapore.

The 75-year-old royal travelled directly from a four-day Australian tour to undertake the Asian engagement.

Accompanied by her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, the Princess Royal landed and undertook a series of official duties aimed at strengthening UK-Singapore relations.

The visit coincided with the 60th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations between the two nations, according to Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Despite challenging weather conditions that threatened to disrupt proceedings, the monarch’s sister pressed ahead with her packed itinerary.

Anne’s first engagement involved a solemn ceremony at Kranji War Cemetery, where she serves as President of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

Alongside her husband, she observed the site’s recent VJ Day commemorations and paid respects to fallen servicemen.

The royal couple toured HMS Spey, the Royal Navy patrol vessel currently deployed in the region.

The 75-year-old has visited Singapore six times, having previously travelled there in 1972 with her parents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and again in 2016.

Anne maintains one of the busiest schedules among working royals.
